sherrrm
Like the title says... I'm currently at Stage 2 with a catless Greddy up & Invidia dp, AVO cold air, vf40 18g conversion, '05 STi engine swap, Rallitek protuned map.. I want to be safe because I blew my engine the day after I went stage 2 and I don't have the money yet for the VB mod.. Should I go with the IPT TruCool 4452, 4454, 4588, etc? MiniStiGuy
4454 I'd say. Plenty of flow and should keep things going fluid wise. OEM HID's Rx330 Retro
sherrrm
So I shouldn't spend the extra $10-20 for the bigger models?
MiniStiGuy
are you planning on tracking regularly? OEM HID's Rx330 Retro
sherrrm
I push my car hard most of the time..can it hurt the car if I go bigger?
Jerboa113
I'd say if it doesn't hurt a larger one would be better.. I dont think it (normally) gets that hot up there in OR but here in GA it does.. so the more cooling the better. I thought about this.. its weird but the cooler and VB mods for the tranny are what are keeping me from going stage 2. sherrrm
well I blew an engine the day after I went stage 2..might be a coincident or not but I'm being as safe as possible with heat wrap, tstat, tranny cooler, redline waterwetter, etc. and I'll buy the vb mod once I can afford it
MiniStiGuy
perhaps whatever tune you had for stage 2 is what did it for you. I was stage 2 for over 30k miles with no problems at all. OEM HID's Rx330 Retro
scoobydoobie
the TruCool 4454 is actually on the bigger side of tranny coolers that will fit. FWIW I have gobs of low end torque (GS exh.mani., GS UP, Cobb DP, AVO TMIC, AVO panel filter, TA tune) and my tranny is fine. No cooler, no IPT VB. That being said I do have a TruCool 4452 to go on. Jerboa113
I just dont trust automatic transmissions with aggressive driving.. even stock.. I'm fairly certain mine will start to fail soon if it hasn't already. they're just not reliable. My 1st vehicles went out at 45k and again at 54k and was acting up again at 89k. MiniStiGuy
your just to EXTREME for them. They should make you a custom 8 speed manual OEM HID's Rx330 Retro
issai
I have the 4452. The front is already pretty packed with other stuff, especially with Hella Supertones, so the 4452 fits nicely.
m sprank
I have the 4454. It is the biggest that will fit without major modification. I also had my VB mod done at IPT (in person) and the 4454 is there recommendation. But, it is much cheaper elsewhere. Do a search, there are lots of threads. sherrrm
the cheapest I've found them for is $63 shipped..IPT was about $90 shipped
Jerboa113
you can probably get em from summit racing etc. They're not an ipt product and are very generic.. so autozone may even be able to get one for you. m sprank
$63 is a good price. Go for it. Should come with everything you need except 1 barbed adapter available at Home Depot for about $2.

tetsulo
I just installed the 4454. The cooler fit like a glove and is quite large. Super easy install too. It didn't come with hose so I bought 6ft of it from a local place. I went stage II the next day and feel good that the cooler is in place. Payed $49 for it with shipping thru ebay. Next summer I'll look into the IPT VB. In case you hadn't found the install doc... http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17293&highlight=opie Matt
RIPjeep2002
Will the 4454 fit with Hella Supetones installed and bolted to the Middle bracket?
m sprank
Gets pretty close to the middle bracket. Have any pics of the hella install?
RIPjeep2002
Gets pretty close to the middle bracket. Have any pics of the hella install? none yet. I shaved a corner off each bracket and tilted them down a little so it would fit under my cobb radiator shroud. I used the brackets they came with and bolted it up to the bolt on the middle column that holds the hood latch in place.
m sprank
If I can see it I can tell you if it will fit. The cooler almost touches the center support.
