05lgt5spd
If you guys had your choice to use the oem nav, or do the jdm double din/pioneer swap, which route would you go. I basically can do either or, im just stuck in the middle. i really liked my pioneer avic-n2, but didnt like the non-oem look, in the cubby. Anyways, i have never used the factory nav, so I cant judge its performance. those of you who use it... speak up!
smokedoutv6
i'd go jdm kit with the pioneer, thats what i would have done if it was an option back when I bought my LGT. the oem nav is nothing to write home about.
VtspecB
I think you'll get fairly unanimous support of the aftermarket option. The look is nice with the OEM but the software is fare less than stunning, possibility even sub-par. I, obviously, had no choice. my vBGarage
Siper2
I don't know if the Legacy nav is similar or the same as the Tribeca OEM nav, but I haven't heard stellar things about the Tribeca's setup. So, IF that's the case, I'd say aftermarket.
red98lude
The factory look is nice but the mapping software is pretty bad. My 08 doesn't know were places are that I know have been around since at least 2001. I vote aftermarket.
zmarko
I would also say go with aftermarket. My Pioneer AVIC D3 I had in my '05 LGT was better than the OEM nav on my spec B.
Siper2
I've no experience with their nav equipment, but I ran Alpine and Eclipse CD head units for a very long time, they always had stellar quality. I'm sure they put the same attention to detail into their nav!

m sprank
I have two Legacys with the OEM NAV. Complete waste of money. A $200 Garmin or Tom Tom works better. Its for looks and installing a back up camera. Lots of other threads on the subject.

05lgt5spd
hmmm, yeah my pioneer avic n2 had a really nice nav system, I havent used the oem nav yet. Seems as if the jdm setup isnt quite a perfect fit either. thanks for the input. still undecided.
markc0220k
i'm confused, my 09 oem nav sys works fine, but its display looks very 90's! 05lgt5spd, your pioneer avic n2 displays the same "map" like oem's? thinking to upgrade to kenwood ddx512, but not sure if the display (map) is controlled by the nav sys understand drivers' seat or the screen itself? thanks, mark
05lgt5spd
my avic had a really nice map view, my avic was controlled by the brain under the seat. someone should start a thread about the different types of nav, everyones oninions, pros and cons. i can vouch for the avic! markc0220k
thanks 05lgt5spd. ok, i have oem nav and want to change its 90's map view. but i afraid the view is control by the sys under the seat. In other word, no matter what screen/display i change, the view (map) will just look the same. have you change the "brain" under the driver's seat? may i ask you for some pic please? yes, i agree to have a new thread where we can discuss diff nav system. mark
05lgt5spd
i dont have stock nav on my car, i had the avic-n2 unit, which is a single din, pop-out nav system made by pioneer. I dont think there is a way to integrate that to display on your screen .However if you do more digging, people have done it many times before, using the oem screen to display features from another unit. markc0220k
i did, and i thought they use the oem nav system but aftermarket screen. that's why i 'm thinking to switch mine to kenwood ddx512. So, which one would be better? keep the screen and change the oem nav? Or, keep the nav and change the screen? mark
