Garrett T25

It has to be an EJ22. If it's an EJ22 N/A, or an EJ22T we'll have to find out. Either way the STI/WRX manifolds are pretty much the same (If not identical). I'm all but certain neither one will fit on the EJ22. If you want to do something to the intake manifold, take the stock one off along with the heads and port them (Or have them ported) to get better airflow. Don't forget to port match the gaskets or the airflow will be so turbulent you'll actually reduce power instead of increasing it.

Actually T25 is a turbo, Nissan used it on most turbo SR20DET's blocks. Fun little turbos on 2.0L motor, quick spool but tops out at 250whp on pump gas.

T2 is the flange size that all Garrett T25, T28, GT25, GT28 use. When you go Garret GT30 it's a T3 flange, finally GT40 is T4. Easy way to tell which flange to use.

This is what a T2 flange looks like:

No.

Edit: So now that I got my "No" in, let me explain why you think you know what you are talking about because you spend too much time on forums.....

The "Ebay" community likes to use "T25/T28" as a turbo size.... It's not, it's a flange size. You can have turbos that make 100hp all the way up to 600+hp in a T25 flange. That could be 30 different turbos with the same T25 size flange. They are only all T25 turbos because they share the same flange size, which has very little to do with the actual size of the turbo.

This website is a perfect example. http://www.cxracing.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=T25T28

12 different turbos all under the T25/28 listing. Some of those turbos are listed as a GT28... which is an actual Garret size of turbo. But again, there are about 6 different size turbos in the Garrett GT28 line that range from 200hp to 600hp.

This is left over from early turbo cars in the 80's and early 90's where there were only a handful of turbos floating around and the size of the flange dictated the power more than anything.

So please help the community prosper and learn the proper nomenclature of the parts you talk about every day.

Garrett Nomenclature: http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/garrett_nomenclature

In the Nissan community (where Nissan used Garrett turbos stock), we refer to the flange as the T2 flange. Under T2 flange you have the following turbos: T25, T28, GT25xx, GT28xx etc. Now there is a DSM T25 which does not use a T2 flange (once again T25 is turbo, T2 is flange).

Note that Garrett long discontinued the regular T25 and T28's (journaled bearing), they now mainly sell the GT series (which are mostly ball bearing). This is why you wont really find "T25" or "T28" turbo names, instead you will see "GT25" or "GT28", but these still use the T2 flange.

Here is a Garrett T25 that came stock on a Nissan Avenir W10:

Here is a Garrett T28 that came stock on a Nissan Sunny GTiR. You can buy one new from Nissan here (notice the name): http://gspec.com/p-7251-gti-r-t28-turbo.aspx

You probably wont believe me still, at this point you can remain naive about Garrett naming nomenclature, but don't miss-educate others. Don't accuse me of just "browsing forums", I've built a few Nissan SR20's with a wide verity of turbos, from T25 to T3's.

Here are two pics of T2 vs T3 styled turbos on the same car

Just to fuel the fire, Undercoverussian is right...

A full T series existed before the GT series of turbos.

But Mike is right also...

We still dont know about the OP's setup in question.

Haha just noticed the date, eh information is information.

Point is you still have no idea what turbo or flange the OP is talking about

That is true, I am used to seeing a specific turbo when someone says T25 (the Nissan used stock), it almost doesn't seem like they really went past T25 nomenclature before GT series turbos. T25 would mean a certain compressor + turbine wheels, but with the GT series they would specify the compressor and turbine wheels as part of the name aka GT2556r.

A GT series turbo is sold without the turbine housing.... because there are some many options for each size.

Depends on where you get it from and weather or not it's an OEM replacement turbo. Most common for GT2x turbos is .60 AR T2 flange. Going T3 flange is pointless for most GT25/GT28 turbos since it requires a much bigger manifold.

Usually people will get GT3x turbo, which comes with T3 flange by default, and get a T2 flange to fit the stock Nissan T2 manifolds since stock manifolds are dirt cheap ($100).

GT3x does not come with T3 as default, it comes with no housing. Technically you are buying two part numbers, one being the turbo and another being the housing. With that being said yes some vendors package them together as you cant use one with out the other.

covertrussian, you are about 15 years behind on turbo tech

More like 20 years behind, I've been building SR20's for last 5 years. They are over 20 years old now.

That's why I questioned you when you said T25 is a flange size and not turbo. T25 is the most common turbo that shipped with Nissan SR20's.
