AV8TORSADF
..in the Boston area? I picked up my Legacy 3.0R LTD last night and it is a non nav model. I want to install either a Kenwood or Pioneer in-dash nav unit and I'm looking for some suggestions of a place that won't destroy my new car
ean611
there are no shops that can do it, as there is no USDM kit for your car, the only one is the $300 JDM kit. http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=113589 See that thread. There is no way easier than that right now to get a Nav installed in your car. Before you just go looking for shops, I would poke around the Interior/Audio section, and check out the FAQ before deciding what you want to do to you car, you'll find a lot of good info. Hope you enjoy your new car!!

ean611
AV8TORSADF, no worries. Whichever route you take, it's VERY easy to install yourself, as the Legacy is really that easy to take apart and re-assemble. If you need a hand, let me know.

ean611
Hakgwai, I think you're thinking of Sound and Motion My concern with shops is that getting a Nav/double DIN radio into the LGT is not a "standard" install, and requires more work than most people are willing to pay for. AV8TORSADF
Thanks guys for the AVIBoston info. I'm hoping to find someone that can put an in-dash navi into the space that it would normally fit an OEM Subaru nav unit so I don't have to destroy the rest of the center console. hakgwai
me and my shaky hands but u get the idea. ken at aviboston did this set up http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t248/hakgwai/LGT/hakgwai%20quick/DSC07690.jpg http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t248/hakgwai/LGT/hakgwai%20quick/DSC07689.jpg
ean611
Hakgwai, that looks pretty good from here. AV8TORSADF, I would suggest that you look for the Nav bracket cover for that area along with the info panel relocation kit. http://www.avojdm.com/product_info.php?cPath=26_54_60&products_id=109 For the panel http://www.avojdm.com/product_info.php?cPath=26_54_60&products_id=107 For the info relocation kit Given that the combo will run around 360, you may be better off with http://www.avojdm.com/product_info.php?cPath=26_54_60&products_id=123 But that will require the previous thread's install info. Nothing wrong with the 3.0R, just remember, you'll get more power with 93 Octane (10.7 Compression ratio, etc)

That is the setup I'm looking for. Complete OEM look. What Nav unit do you have installed? What was your total cost from AVIBoston?

I was just messing with you about the LGT. Right now my baby only has 187 miles on her so I'm being very gentle and driving at varying speeds at least until 600 miles then I'll slowly start to stretch her legs. So you'll think I'll get more power with 93 over 91?
ean611
AV8TORSADF, there is no 91 in the state of MA, it's all a blend. You can only find 87 and 93 in most MA fuel stops. Every other octane rating is a blend. Personally, I don't trust those machines to blend accurately. No prob on the part numbers, I kind of knew that off of the top of my head sadly...I do this too much... Those are also readily available in the Interior/Audio section, another place I know too well...

I usually fill up at BJ's and they only have regular and Premium (93) and at 22 cents a gallon cheaper than "regular" gas stations that works for me. I'm going in to AVIBoston during lunch tomorrow for them to checkout my car and give me a quote. They said they have a couple of Kenwood DNX6140's and with a $100 instant rebate they're going for $999. He was trying to push the DNX9140 but that was $1899 and I don't want to spend that much on a unit. I'll let you know what they say.

Thanks for making me feel much better!! I'd love to spend that much on the unit but I simply can't as I have other "house" things that need to be done this summer so $1000 is my limit for the unit. Thanks for the info though.

No clue how current Eclipse stuff is, my ~2003 Eclipse radio is the best money can buy.
AV8TORSADF
I just got back from AVIBoston. The quote is far higher than I wanted to spend. I figured $2K tops but the quote was $3750 before taxes. After looking at my car they decided they could not get a DNX6140 into the space as it is not deep enough. The alternative is a monitor ($500), Central Control Unit ($500), Nav ($550), Blue Tooth module ($200) and misc cables etc. ($200) and then several hours of labor to get it all installed. Now, I have no doubt these guys do kick @ss work but I'm not looking to drop almost $4K for Nav, BT and iPhone integration. I'll need to figure out an alternative or simply wait a bit and save some cash and get it done at AVIBoston. That was $2750 not $3750.
