franklin
GM cars / engineering have not had much to brag about lately. Here is something to check out if you have not seen this yet. The GM 2.0 liter twin scrool ,direct injection motor. Stock = 260 HP and 260 #/ft. pretty impressive IMO. Now the cool part , for $650 GM will install a different MAP sensor and reflash the computer to deliver 290 HP and 315- 340 #/ft ( depending on application ) and retain the full 100K warrenty. 2.0 Liters 290 HP and 340# from the factory with a full warrenty, not too shabby..... 05GT Guru
That engine is actually pretty neat. The direct injection fuel system can support almost 400whp without any upgrades to injectors or pump.
05pearl
I would seriously consider the solstice gxp coupe with the factory power upgrade. Not may around as far as I can tell though.

05GT Guru
Too bad all they have is GM garbage to wrap around that nice motor. The solstice GXP coupe is a 2900lbs car with a 260hp/260trq engine that handles like a dream is RWD and manual and spools by 2krpms. How is that a bad car? It also comes in the cobat SS which i know is FWD and kinda ugly but has run 13.5s in the 1/4 and has taken the evo x and sti around a couple of tracks now and it costs 24k. Oh and did i mention just like the cobalt SS and camaro SS the solstice GXP can do no lift shifts.
Guest JessterCPA
The Solstice & the Camaro are not GM's problems, nor are they the saviors. The Cobalt, Malibu, and Impala are where they need to make improvements. Only the Cobalt is a true candidate for the 2.0t, maybe the Malibu. But they really need to up the ante on these 3 models to compete with Toyota, Honda, etc. They have a good powerplant, now make a great car around it as well. They screwed up twice before with this. The Quad 4 and the Twin-Dual-Cam 3.4 were both great engines ahead of their time, but GM put them in crap cars.

Fast cars make headlines, good cars sell more cars. That no lift feature is kinda neat.
rao
I hate to inject facts here, but you can buy the Cobalt with the 2.0 turbo - it is the Cobalt SS (and that name alone explains much of GMs problems ) Rob IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CAR YOU SHOULD NEVER DRIVE IT

Btu the suspension, brakes, and powertrain are strong and reliable.
Guest JessterCPA
true but what makes a good car? Mechanics or cosmetics? I wil lagree the coblat ss is an ugly car with a bland interior. Btu the suspension, brakes, and powertrain are strong and reliable. I will agree with everything there. I'll say it's a combo. Unfortunately GM has nailed either the looks or the mechanics (neither necessarily with the quality) but rarely both (CTS is an exception). 05pearl
I don't know anyone who is pleased with the gov backing gm. But, I don't see how that would stop me from buying a nice car if they had one to offer. I believe you can buy a new Solstice GXP for around 22K with rebates, incentives... And, for less than $700 more, you can have a 290/340 3000lb brand new roadster under full warranty. I think the car is great looking and with that power to weight ratio, it would be a blast. I love my LGT, and I know it's apples/oranges, but I don't think it looks nearly as good as the Solstice.

Ryandigi
so if these suckers weigh 3000lbs and have 260hp how come they trap so low in all the rags I have read...especially since the cobalt ss seems to trap higher (believe it weighs the same) in the same mags, well at least sometimes it does. Anybody seen what these run at actual tracks versus a stock or stage II turbo
