scoobydoobie
I know most people data log in 3rd, but is there a reason you cannot use a 2nd gear pull for map tweaking purposes? I understand that you will not see peak boost in 2nd. Reason I ask is because around here, there aren't really any good safe spots for me to do a 3rd gear pull from 2K to redline. And I don't track the car. Other than boost, would any other parameters be affected by using 2nd rather than 3rd? Thanks.
nka
engine load will be affected and RPM will raise too fast to have a good dataloggin. For myself, I've found a no-to-used flat highway place
scoobydoobie
alright thanks. So I guess 2nd is a no-go for data logging?

scoobydoobie
any experts want to chime in here? Can I datalog in second gear? Why or why not?
NSFW
Logging in 2nd will get you some good data, but not enough. Then again, the same is true for logging in 3rd. Doing a 3rd gear WOT pull is great for sanity checking (it's popular for good reasons), but it still only covers a portion of each relevant table. To cover everything, you really need to log in all gears anyway, and at various throttle openings.
jim1969
why not 4th gear esp. on the 05-06 LGT 5EAT? The gear ratio is 1:1 in that model.

dwolson2
why not 4th gear esp. on the 05-06 LGT 5EAT? The gear ratio is 1:1 in that model. I don't think I would want to even try a 4th gear, I did a 3rd gear(about 90 mph) and wasn't sure I was going to have enough road. But I was in LA....
