color code for oem amp under passenger seat, anyone?

ok, the diagram has all definition on all outout wires (wires btw amp and spk), but doesn't show wires btw amp and audio source?

Page WI-150 "Premium Audio Model" AUDIO(PA)-01 shows the interconnections. If you're looking for the pin functions, the radio uses the same i26 connector as the "Normal Audio Model" two pages earlier.

You can also see the pin-out here:

Colors for 2009 normal model are the same as 2008. 2009's HK has a few changes.

Can you post some clear, close-up pics of the connectors that plug into the amp? I'll see if I can find matching harnesses for people to bypass the amp.

ok, just took few minutes to test around my sys. i found the bass from the unit at rear dash wasn't that bad. i think the biggest problem is the front spk produce some "extra" (unwant) bass. i'm planning to add bass-blocker (capacitor) to cut off some bass. i used the similar method to tune my friend's STi, sound has much improvement.

now, i just need to know which wires for those 4x spks run btw HU and oem amp. i'll post the result after this "few bucks mod"!

pls, i still need y'all help, because i still have no clue which wires they are. thanks.

still thinking which is the most cheapest/efficacious way to upgrade my 09 hk 9xspk sys. i just found the oem hk amp actually just sit under the passenger seat, do anyone know their color code pls?

thanks,

mark

"efficacious" = Word of the Day.

And no fair getting by with a bass blocker gizmo. Get in there and spend gobs of time and money like everyone else.:)

but first thing first, i need to find the right wires (front L/R and rear L/R) to test. i'm still reading that 2009 vacation and searching online, hopefully i can find some hints soon.. thanks Wang Lung. : )

Thanks for posting those pics. I'll need to see the faces of each plug and socket (unplugged) for any hope of finding matching harnesses.

Page WI-150 pretty clearly identifies the wire colors and pin numbers. There are little drawings at the bottom of each page showing the pin-numbering and outline of each of the connectors that appear on that page (view is lookiing at the pins side of the harness plug, with the wires pointing away from you). Is the problem that you need to know Subaru's wire-color abbreviations? (most are obvious, but there are a couple of odd ones, like L=Blue)

thanks SVXdc, unfortunately that diagram doesn't state which wire is for which speaker.

Ah, but I did answer that... :)

So for example, on the "Normal" drawing you'll see that pin 2 on the radio's i26 is "Right Front Speaker" (and in my pin-out table, you'll see it's the + side). Jump to the "Premium" drawing and follow down the trace from that same radio pin to see which connector and pin that goes to on the amp (pin 5 on connector "B" R316).

thank you SVXdc, now i understand the wi-150 and your diagram, but the seq of color seems diff from my connector. where is your pin connector supposed to connect? my pic was taken underneath of pass side seat.

thanks : )

i26 is the 14-pin harness that plugs into the back of the radio, in the dash.

Remeber, on the wiring diagrams...

(view is lookiing at the pins side of the harness plug, with the wires pointing away from you)

The white, 24-pin harness at the far right side in your pictures is "B" R316. Pin B1 (empty) is at the upper-right corner in the picture. The colors I can see in your pictures match what's on page WI-150 (e.g., pin B5 is Red).

The center Blue harness is obviously "C" R317 (since the diagram says it's Blue).

The harness at the far left side is the amp's "A" R315. Pin A1 is Light Green ("Lg") with silver rings. Dots/rings are usually not mentioned on Subaru's wiring diagrams, just stripes.

Incidentally, the amp's pin B11 looks like it's a vehicle speed wire, for the "Speed-Sensitive Auto Volume Control (SVC)" feature.

hey SVXdc, correct me if i 'm wrong.

ok, on the harness i26 (according to WI 150), A2 is (red, Rt + ) and A3 (B = blue(?), Lt +). Then, on the amplifier side, they are B5 (red, RT+) and B3 (Blue, Lt +), and all go to R316? in other word, i can add capacitor btw pin 3 and pin 5? thanks

Yes, except color "B" stands for "Black."

in other word, i can add capacitor btw pin 3 and pin 5? [on connector R316]
No, I don't think you should do that. To use a capacitor as a high-pass filter, it needs to be in series. As the frequency of the signal gets higher, the capacitor acts more like a plain piece of wire (lower resistance).

So you would want a capacitor in between the radio and the amp on the Red wire (cutting the wire somewhere in the middle and inserting the capacitor there), and another capacitor in between the radio and the amp on the Black wire.
