Mixa86
I searched around, supposedly its an 05 thing of her reeking like acidic fumes when you give her some hard throttle but its awful, it gives me a headache. It dont smell like bad cats, it smells like windex mixed with gas. Some posts say it goes away, car has 40k and it just reeks!!!!! When you open the window doing 80+ and punch it half way it just pours in. Any ideas how to make it stop?

welby
Every now and then I get a strong whiff of raw fuel coming from mine. haven't looked into it, but it's kind of unnerving to me because back in the early 90's I had an '85 Shelby Charger that burst into flames while I was driving and was a total loss. Yeah, good times.
scoobydoobie
Same thing happens to me, haven't been able to figure out what exactly it is yet. Only smell it after going hard on the gas.

Mixa86
the 1st gen specv's did it then nissan did a recll on them for the precats. 2 buddies of mine had nissan replace their motors at udner 10k.... The cats would jsut break up it gets shot back into the motor pieces of it but back on topic to this, anyone else had experiece and did somethign about it to make it stop. It happened to me and when they dropped the oil pan, it was full of sand like material from the cat. The only cat on our cars that can damage the turbo and/or possibly the engine is the one in the uppipe.
dubsac2
Could be gas vapors, you may have loose clips on the fuel line or on the sprayers. It's covered under warenty, had mine fixed this past winter. $59, but the dealer should cover that
Mendozer
This seems too common of a problem, but is it potentially the smell of a burning/slipping clutch? If your saying its while your on the hwy, or simply hammering the gas, the smell of the clutch burning could be pretty rank?! Karl
Mixa86
ya but clutch is not engaged.... u can be coasting and then give it some gas and it will reek.... and it deff dont smell like clutch... it smells to harsh to be clutch.... i get no smell when im coasting, shifting, nor when its running at idle.... only when it goes ovrer 3800 rpm, its weird.... and it smells more with the window open .... at 70+ speeds i dont see how u can be smelling something so vivdly when it should be blowing by you or under you. HarryN
I too have had this type of smell in my car, only a week after owning it. It smelled like garbage juice soon after. It was very horrendous. A week and a half later, it was gone.  I checked the vents, trunk, engine compartment, glove box, hoses, air box, wheel wells, under the seats, I just could not find out where the smell was coming from. But now that it is gone, I am even more worried. LOL! I am glad to see I was not the only one with this problem. However I have an '09 LGT. The smell the OP refers to happens anytime you get the turbo to spool on manual and 5eat cars which rules out clutch. Im a 5eat and have had this smell aswell, although i am missing my up pipe and down pipe cats.

Shmike
Ya, when i run mine through the gears it stinks too. I've got a stock up pipe and catless down currently, the catless up hasnt gone in yet. I figured it was becase i was running stage 2 maps with a catted up but if people are experiencing this completely catless, then there goes my theory. 05 LGT Wagon STI powered
