nka
When I'm running at a stable speed and I have the throttle to like 1/8 (just to not accelerate and not decelerate), the car, sometime (maybe just when I'm down hill, didn't notice?) just act like I was pressing the brake pedal at 1 secs interval (on... off... on... off). If I release the accelerator a bit, I begin to decelerated and that thing stop. If I press a bit more, I begin to accelerate and that thing stop. Do you know why the car is doing that ? Do you think it's caused by the ECU change resently and this will go away ? On other cars I've drived, that exact thing happend when you release the clutch in 1st gear with no throttle going on a little down hill.

snow05gtRI
auto or manual? I find with my 5EAT in 3rd gear this happens. If I try to hold light throttle it feels "pulsing"
nka
yeah, exactly, pulsing is the word ! I got a 5MT. Happen to me mostly in 3rd too at ~3000RPM. Cool to see I'm not alone and it's not related to the MT
snow05gtRI
interesting. I had always chalked it up to the torque converter locking/unlocking...but now this has me wondering.

rao
Drive By Wire. Electronically controlled throttle. Rob IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CAR YOU SHOULD NEVER DRIVE IT
snow05gtRI
DBW = Drive By Wire .... instead of having a throttle cable like cars used to, the gas pedal inputs are sent to the ECU and then the ECU controls the throttle based on what it sees from your gas pedal. edit: ooh rao with the quickness
nka
Yeah, I had that too on the ION, but never had any kind of problem.
nka
http://stuff.urbanghetto.net/DBW-LGT001.jpg Looking at this table from my stock ROM, I think it's "normal". The part of 2400-3200RPM at 7%-14% Throttle is not as smooth at the rest of the table.
