Benaaron87
I have a 1990 liberty awd wagon with an ej22 . I damaged the original engine but replaced it with something the same . Here is my questions . Is 250kw feasible at all . Is it very challenging to do this in an NA set up . Apart from the obvious things like ecu , turbo ,intercooler , etc is there much more necessary . We are rebuilding it with chrome 20 thou pistons and new bearings and everything , what sort of boost can you run safely and reliably . Will I need different heads for turbo or can I use the ej22 head
Reuben
Sell it, buy a GTB. I used to own a 1994 Liberty LX, 2.2L FWD. I went though the very same question, how feasable is upgrading etc. etc. To put it simply, you must brake yourself away from your attachment to the car, and simply buy a car that's already a turbo. What people forget about is that the GT/GTB's are so much more than just a better engine!!! For less than the price of a proper conversion, you get a car BUILT for the power, with adequate gearbox, diff's and brakes, superior interior with extra features, better seats and the lot. And you don't have to worry about getting it certified or about it's warrants. The only thin is though, i live in NZ, we can get 98 GTB's here for between $4000 and $8000. I hear in oz it is an ass load more expensive
