How are the fogs on 08+ ?

So 08-09 got the cheapo reflector fog lamps (they are indeed cheap - almost half the cost of 05-07 fogs)....

How much do they suck? The projector 05-07 are not all that great, at least with stock bulbs, either.

Btw, the JDM Rev. D-F bumpers actually use the same fogs like USDM 08-09.

I can barely tell when they are on. They are so bad I just don't use them. I usually only turn them on when everyone else has theirs on, just to say that I have fogs. Even in the fog they don't work for a damn. Car looks better with the lights there, I treat them as aesthetics. I have both an '05 LGT and an '08 LGT. The '05's work much better.

I agree at least in stock form they're more for aesthetic value than anything else. I can see a slight difference when turning them off/on, but barely. I just leave them on all the time. I've been considering doing a 3k hid fog setup. That or some decent yellow bulb or film or both.

That's what I thought. Damn. I'll see if I can retrofit my extra pair of 05 projector fogs into the JDM bumper ;)

HID is an option. I just ordered a set of the Xtreme HID kits with the 4300k Phillips bulbs from Xenon Expert (Oliver) to replace my low beams. If the kit works out as advertised I might convert my fogs as well. But if unclemat is already buying a JDM bumper he might not want to spend the extra cash for HID now.

Good Luck with your project unclemat!

i was playing around with my fogs a few months ago, stock no adjustment: when you turn them on they shine below and before the low beams start to shine on the road. for me to actually see with the fogs on my face has to be literally on the windshield

yea, the only reason why i did it to see if the fogs do anything, and they dont do much as driving lights:( maybe they work better when the weather is really bad

Nope, weather makes no difference. Driven in rain, sleet, snow, fog, doesn't seem to matter. Maybe in a dark cave they work. Does Batman have an '08 LGT?

the stock 08 fogs were less than acceptable for me. i recently changed to piaa crystal ion yellow bulbs and i am very happy. not only do they look better but they also perform way better, their output is also double that of the stock fog bulbs. i just recieved my laminex fog tint but have yet to install them. now the fog lights make the headlights output look pathetic so i will probably upgrade the headlight bulbs soon.

Can you link to the bulbs you got?

the bulbs definitely make a huge difference. but if you are looking for the ultimate foglight output i would say go HID. i am satisfied with the extra output from just the bulbs. for the cost of the bulbs and ease of installation i would say bulbs are at least worth a shot.

We had some fog here the other morning on the way to work so I figured I'd use the fogs for what they where made for. God do they suck, good thing I have a 3000k HID setup sitting on my desk here at home waiting for me to install it. I might also see if I can adjust the beam up a little bit while I'm at it.

i adjusted mine up a bit, i can see them better (just needs more adjusting upwards, stock bulbs

Jeeze these new fogs are useless even with 8000K HID installed.

Underground000 how did you adjust your fogs. I'm still trying having trouble in figuring it out. Could you supply a diagram or pictures on how to do it? Thanks

The Subaru Service Manual Says for the 08/09 to remove the lower mud guard under the fog light and you'll see a screw hole, Insert a Phillips screwdriver and turn to raise and lower the fog height.

yea there are 2 pop it things and 1 phillips head screw, then remove that panel (its right under the fog light, dont remember is passenger side removed all the way but the driver side did) i reached around until i felt a screw that i can move right/left (it is a screw, does not stick out) i tuned it with my thumb and side of my index finger (so far i turned them about 3 full turns clockwise - up) and they still need to be adjusted some more.

a good way to tell if its good is do everything in the day time so you know where the screw is and leave the covers off then when its dark adjust them

i am adjusting mine until the fog beam ends when the U of the regular starts. or when the angle of the beam blends in with the regular lights (havent decided)
