jaweir
I had to take my Legacy in for some weird noise, (loose motor mount), however I'm coming up on my 60k service and the dealer wanted me to do my timing belt, I told him to hold on that at this time. I've never had to have a Timing belt replace and I have owned several cars that have had high miles on them. Is 60K common for timing belt replacement? It seems like low miles for such a major repair. Can i wait? and if so, how long can i wait? Thanks everyone.

Max Capacity
Do you have it in writing that they recommend that you change the timing belt at 60k ? I would call SOA and complain. dealer = stealer 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. blackfang
You really won't get anywhere with that. The dealer can recommend anything whether it be right or not. SOA may entertain your concern, but they won't do too much but tell them they need to review their maintenance plan. Personally I would just go elsewhere. RJS5689
Ehh, I wouldn't push my timing belt to the 100K mark.
RedAce
Replace at the 100K mark!!!!
blackfang
I would. I see many go past that. I have yet to see a belt just break, but sure have seen an idler or a tensioner crap out causing it to break or come off. PhilT
I replaced mine at 100K and it looked just like new, probably could have gone another 50K. Double Award Winning Legacy GT Wagon
