BigInALegacy
So I'm running a TA Stage 1 e-tune map. For some reason, I'm getting this "stutter" sometimes, mostly when the car is going uphill, and mostly in the 40-55mph range, or ALWAYS going 70mph. If I give it gas, or downshift it stops... but none the less, its certainly not right. Mike's looked at it a couple times, last time we were able to log it and he made some changes. Even though its probably got better on each of my visits, it's still VERY present. And let me just say, Mike's been good in having me down to look at it and fine tune it, even though it's just an e-tune map. I'm planning on taking another visit to see Mike sooner than later and hopefully get it worked out. Sooo... can anyone shed some light on WTF is going on? Hopefully these links to my logs work. Datalogs were taking when trying to capture the "stutter". I could do some hard 3rd gear pulls too if that would help. TIA for any insight. It's muchly appreciated. http://www.mediafire.com/file/4m11jnjfdmn/datalog6.csv http://www.mediafire.com/file/ddeynynn5nj/datalog7.csv http://www.mediafire.com/file/mtmtggoe0in/datalog8.csv
vaccaroja
Is it a turbo lag type of stutter? Are you using 93 Octane? Where did you get your tune from? 13.6 @ 102 untuned FTW SmartWax - Spec Clutch - Team Scp 1 http://newenglandsubarus.com/
BigInALegacy
Tuning Alliance Stage 1 E-tune (with a few changes from mike after logging) / 93 octane Not so much a turbo lag stutter... best way i can describe the feeling is comparing it to when your driving a manual and your in too high of a gear, the feeling you get when you try to give it gas. Only thing is that my car's an Automatic. Happens in Drive or SportShift.
BigInALegacy
Datalog6 shows a good section where AFR's are hitting 20+, like I said, I'm pretty new to the tuning scene, but my guess is that's WAAY too high.
rice_rocket
AF of 20 is waaay too lean! Factory is prob around 10ish.. people tune for 11 if they can
BigInALegacy
So I should nix that map probably ASAP. Gonna flash the stock map back for the meantime... hopefully TA gets back to me soon, I PM'd him a couple days ago.
Infamous1
I am posting from my phone so I can't see the logs. But if you are seeing afr of 20 while not on the gas that is what it should be. However if under load it is a mechanical problem (fueling).
rice_rocket
Taking a quick look.. your load is almost nil as well as your boost (in this case vacuum) So yes.. 20 AFR is fine, I wouldn't be worried about blowing up quite yet Looks like your car is just cutting out at a low RPM (around 2500 rpm). As to why.. haven't figured it out yet. I'm sure Infamous1 is def. the one to answer this.. but I think we might have to try to log more things. BigInALegacy
Alright, well at least that makes me feel better... (insert sigh of relief) If there are some more/less parameters I should be logging, let me know and I'll get some new logs ASAP. I'm also heading out in a short, so I'll leave the map on for now, and try to get a good 3rd gear pull tonight and post it here tomorrow. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your help guys. I can't stress it enough.
rice_rocket
Is this the magical studder that people are talking about, or is this some other related problem? I haven't read up much on this studder myself.. But, another question, is this happening only on partial throttle? I assume so since you said going uphill at 45-50mph, but what about the 70mph part? Are you starting to build boost and then it's happening? Could be a mechanical thing such as a boost leak in your system or even your BOV.. BigInALegacy
No, not the magical stutter, that was gone with the new map. the only times its prevelant enough for me to notice, is about 45-50 sometimes, and I can duplicate the stutter 95% of the time on the highway at 70mph if there's any incline (i assume because of the additional load). I'd say around the 2000-2750 RPM range when I go to pick up more speed at a 70mph cruise.

But i am running a stage 2 tune on stock injectors, and a stock fuel pump. 13.6 @ 102 untuned FTW SmartWax - Spec Clutch - Team Scp 1 http://newenglandsubarus.com/

Try some fuel injector cleaner from GUM OUT. 13.6 @ 102 untuned FTW SmartWax - Spec Clutch - Team Scp 1 http://newenglandsubarus.com/
BigInALegacy
Maybe, but it doesn't do it running stock... I got some 3rd gear pulls and another "stutter" log I'm gonna post up soon. Looks like we may just be heading for stage 2 and a dyno tune sooner than later.
BigInALegacy
More logs as promised... first 2 are 3rd gear pulls, got as high into RPMs as i could given the conditions. The last is another log of the stutter, this time I logged a few more parameters as well, including knock correction. http://www.mediafire.com/file/end2mr0ojvy/3rdGearWOT1.csv http://www.mediafire.com/file/inzromhnemm/3rdGearWOT2.csv http://www.mediafire.com/file/jmmomcmnhny/Stutter1.csv LMK what you think...
