1-3-2-4
I can't tell what it is really.. If I push the clutch in fast no matter when like at a light or whatever I get this springy metallic sound like something is tapping on metal.. it's hard to describe without the sound file but it you push the clutch in real slow it wont happen. BAC5.2
How old is the clutch? Probably just spring noise. I wouldn't worry about it until it starts happening all of the time. I don't recall, but I don't THINK the 95's had cable clutches, so it is very likely either pressure plate spring noise, or clutch return spring noise. 987687
Does it happen with the engine off as well as on? You could try spraying some grease down the clutch fork to oil where it rides on the ball. Also, do you have a hill holder? Mine was making spring noise until I disconnected it. Oiling it would probably help too... Also, are you sure it isn't the pedal? My pedal squeaks where it connects to the car, I still need to find out where exactly that is and oil it. I don't know when they stopped using cable clutches, but my 96 has one, and the 99 outback doesn't.. somewhere in there.
1-3-2-4
it's only when the engine is on... I will post the sound file on Friday and the hill holder was never connected so it's not that.
tealdub
It sounds like it could be the throw out bearing vibrating on the input shaft. Did you replace it when you did the clutch?
1-3-2-4
I don't know the last owner said the clutch was new but I don't know if the throw out bearing is new.. I don't understand how the sound is related on how fast you clutch in. I will grab the soundfile before I go off to NJ tomorrow.
tealdub
They, as in the manufacturer of the bearing, usually send the bearing pre-greased, so that it slides on the input shaft easier. Maybe the slower you push it the less resistance there is.

Platinum_Racing
Check the clutch pedal linkage as well. Always check the insignificant things before looking into major things. More times than not, I've found, you do something major only to have the same problem when you're done, then later you figure it was something minor the whole time. 1-3-2-4
I know the linkage where the clutch cable is near the transmission that whole area is loose but without a helper it's hard to see if it's that area ratting.
