silbeej
Is it normal to hear water trickling from the sunroof when its raining out? It sounds like its running down a pipe or something, just its kind of loud and want to see if you all have that same experience?

xBrian
I hear it in the morning when I start up my car. But I dont have a sunroof and yes, it sounds like water trickling down a pipe. I was wondering what this was, sounded like it was coming from the motor area. Its only when I pull out of the garage in the morning. Once I leave the level garage and back up onto a incline it makes the noise.
snow05gtRI
i think there are tube drains that run along the top of the door frame....i remember seeing a picture of someone pulling out a tube in their trunk area that looked like a wire conduit but people said it was a drainage tube, and it was coming from up in the roof area. Bdubs
It's normal. Water does make it past the rubber gasket of the sunroof seal during a steady rain, and it is meant to. That is probably the noise you are hearing.
Max Capacity
I don't have a sunroof but sometimes I can hear water behind the dashboard area. That's about the same time I remember to blow the crap out of the A/C drain line. My 00' with a sunroof would fill the cargo cover with water sometimes. My 98' would do the same thing. That's why I didn't buy a Limited. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. jim1969
^how do you blow out the A/C drain?
Max Capacity
^ I take the air hose from my compressor and stick it in the outlet end of the drain and give it a quick blast of air from the blow nozzle. I have to jack the car up first and then get under the passenger side and look up for the 1/4" ID rubber hose hanging down. On http://www.theL7.com there is a service bulletin on shortening the hose so spiders don't get in it...ya, right... 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. Opie
If you hear water near the sunroof chances are one (or all) the drains are clogged by debris in the sunroof frame (leaves, mold, muck). There are a total of 4, one in each corner. They can be blown out, but they are not easy to get to. If you hear water behind the dash you could have one of two issues; 1) Your A/C drain is clogged. 2) Your heater core has an air pocket in it. The A/C line can be blown out. If it's the heater core you'll need to purge the air out of the cooling system with the heat on.
Max Capacity
Thinking about it now, I don't think I've heard the water behind the dash since I replaced the timing belt. That makes sense. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it.
