Mods for my second gen Legacy?

Recommended Posts

Hello, I own a 1997 Subaru Legacy Gt. The car is mostly stock and I am interested in doing some mods to the car to increase horsepower and handling. The car has a stock EJ25 engine and 5 peed manual transmission. I am interested in putting an exhaust on my car, but am having a difficult time finding one? I have been told that I could use a WRX exhaust and have the flanges rotated. Is this true? My car also has a blown strut and I am interested in upgrading to some better struts. I have also been told that I could use STI struts on my car and they would fit with minor adjustment? Is this true? I currently just installed stock 2004 WRX wheels and they were the same size as my car... So will some WRX parts fit my car?

Any advice is much appreciated.

Thanks.

2004 STI struts will fit your car as will any year WRX strut. If you have the money, look into KYB AGX struts or Tokico D-specs. Both are nice upgrades. You can pair them up with an aftermarket spring of choice.

As for power, not much you can do. Yes, you can put on a cat back and cold air intake, but it will only buy you about 5-10 HP at the most. I would save up my money and do an STI swap.

Mmmmmmm engine swap. Yep, do one. :p

If not, yeah, an exhaust would go well, and yes a 2.5RS exhaust will fit, but you won't be able to fit one from a turbo unless you get a custom job done. Also look into cold air intakes.

And yes, you can use STi suspension :D I can't remember what the cut off year is though, but i know later model STi stuff won't fit. Might be pre 04, might be pre 06, i have no idea to be honest.
