Like the title states I'm planing on moving to MD in several months. Looks like Hartford County. How hard is it to pass inspection there? Do I have to go threw DMV? My car has a lot of aftermarket stuff on and I dont want to have to take it off. Let me know if you have some info?

its not too hard to pass inspection if you know the right people. i have a few friends that work at dealerships, slip them a 50, it seems like everything passes just fine. emissions tends to be a bitch, just make sure you have at least one cat and you should be fine

like the guys said, there are plenty of shops to take care of you for the mechanical inspection. i actually went to a place somewhat near where you're moving to, pm me if you want it.

and don't worry about emissions, afaiu as long have a cat (or even looks like it) you should be straight. i rolled right through in like 2 minutes.

coming from nj, they're gonna get you with the excise tax and the ridiculous reg fees...

you'll make up for it come insurance time, though.

I just moved to Carroll county from FL. Inspections sucked. If you have window tint it must be checked out by a trooper at the MVA first and be above 35% before you can pass a safety inspection. Also, must have a muffler, resonator only is not ok. Your brake pads and rotors must be within spec / headlights must be aligned, etc, etc. It's a ton of stuff, takes about an hour to two hours to get done. There's a place in Baltimore that does nothing but inspections for 40 bucks. It's off of Joppa Rd. down the street from Pep Boys. Looks kinda sketch, but the guy is pretty cool.

I would say start by going to IAG Performance. They probably know of a shop to get you through inspection.

Secondly...are you buying a house??? ;)

i just looked em up, IAG is over an hour away from hartford county ....probably not the most convenient option. hartford is kinda in the north east corner of MD.

Welcome to MD when you get here. And do NOT worry about the inspection other than tint. I bought my car already stage two and it passed fine(but have a high flow cat).

Other than the saftey inspection, emission is a matter of not throwing any codes OBD2 wise. My old sentra had no cats at all and passed with no issues.
