Need helping logging with RR

Hi, my name is bill and I need help logging with RR.

Info on my car

-2005 LGT MT

-93 Oct only

-Boost Controller (11-14PSI)

-K&N Drop in filter

I will not be tuning my car, I just want to ne able log and learn about logging/tuning. I have read a bunch of treads on logging and alot of it doesn't make sense to me, I am having a problem understanding what I am reading.

-First off I need to know what parameters I should be logging??

Again I have read alot of different posts and I have seen some parameter that don't even have when I'm connected. Once I know what parameters to log I will go out and log a few times. I would really appreciate some help, please do not post if you are going to be mean to me.

Thanks bill

You should log the following:

1. rpm

2. load (not calculated)

3. afr #1

4. ignition total timing

5. manifold relative pressure (psi)

6. knock sum or feedback correction

7. primary wastegate duty cycle (%)

8. turbo dynamics

9. requested torque or throttle

You should also get and run learning view after your logs.

Not sure why you wouldn't be tuning. You can turn up the boost properly with romraider rather than using a manual boost controller.

Thanks for posting so fats. I've noticed thay when im connected to the ecu it shows a few of the same parameters but with 1 or 4 byte....which should I use??

I dont want to tune, b/c I cant afford to replace parts

How??

Just noticed that you are from rochester, me too.....lol

Thanks

Bill

You will also want to install Learning View, which is useful to see in a snapshot if your car is running relatively safe.

As for step-by-step instructions, I never found any. And, I don't think I could walk you through it anyway. Unfortunately, you will have to fumble your way around the RR web site and this site a little bit. Just search for exactly what problem you are having, like "cannot connect with ECU using Romraider" or "cannot see all logging parameters I selected in Romraider"... You will have to read a lot but eventually, you will find your answers.

I suggest using a tactrix cable if you don't have one (tactrix.com). You have to download and install the RR definitions separately (I don't know why). If you have a little computer savy (very little) and some patience, eventually, you will get it worked out. Best of luck. Maybe someone else can be more helpful than me.

Cool. Nice to see others in the area on here.

Use the lowest byte available for logging.

Mickeyd has a stage 1 map on the romraider forums that a lot of people are running for the 2005. I'd start with that and some logging/tweaking. I'd get rid of the manual boost controller before looking into the new map though.

ok, am in the car so all my parameters come up.....

-I have so many different A/F correcection, learning and sensor parameters....not sure which one to use?

-as far as manifold relative pressure (psi), I have manifold relative pressure (psi), then manifold relative pressure (psi)4-Byte, and then the same but corrected.

-knock sum or feedback correction....which is better or should i do both?

-turbo dynamics......I have turbo dynamics integral(2 and 4 Byte) and I also have turbo dynamics proportional(2 and 4 Byte)????

not trying to be a pain, Thanks for everyones help. I just do not want to go beat/log the car with the wrong parameters..

You want af sensor #1, manifold relative pressure in psi, knock sum is better imo. Turbo dynamics integral 2 byte.

Knock sum will go up everytime a knock is detected. Sometimes it's just noise, if you're shifting fast you could be seeing some shift knock. You want to get a WOT log in 3rd gear from 2k rpm to redline. I would do the same in 4th gear too. Post those logs up here as well as a learning view save/screenshot.
