Gmbh B7 posted this thread the other day on another car forum:

Just wanted to let everyone know what an awesome job Andrew did on my dads car.

My dad just picked up a 2005 SL500 that needed some serious TLC. I don't think the car was waxed for the last 4 years, everything was filthy & needed some serious work to get it to look right. Paint was full of swirls and imperfections. The rims looked black and the interior was just filthy.

I've never seen a detailer put as much effort into a car as Andrew did. He spent almost 8 hours working on the car & the attention to detail is far beyond my wildest expectation.

Im seriously blown away by the caliber of his work & the amount of pride he takes in his work.

I cant wait till I have some time to get my RS4 to his shop.

======================================================

Just like you thank me for my work, I thank you for your nice positive feedback. I'm looking foward to taking care of your Audi, as well as other cars you have for me to detail in the near future. I didn't mind you hanging out in the shop & watching me work.

Here are the pictures, enjoy.

After giving the SL500 a nice hand wash, I inspected each pannel one at a time under my bright natural sunlight shop fixtures. I found light over spray on every single pannel, including all of the glass as well. I spent a good 45 minutes alone with the clay bar. Afterwords, denatured alcohol was used to scrub the rocker pannels & wheel lips to remove road grime. I found two black paint dots that had to be wetsanded with 1500 grit. One of the rocker pannels had some crap on it, almost underneath the car. It bothered me so much, I layed on the ground & had to scrub it off with a fine 3m scuff pad =( Each window was scraped with a double sided razor blade, then spray waxed. The all glass roof was polished with my porter cable as well. Should we mention the crappy chrome accents that Dad refuses to remove lol. Fender chrome vent covers, hood chrome vent pieces, chrome inserts behind the door handles all had over spray as well as the chrome wheels ALL OF THEM! I polished everything with a fine SOS pad BY HAND, got out the overspray 100%. All 4 rims were also polished BY HAND! It was a pain in the ass & took alot of time but that's what the car needed. I spent about 2 hours prepping the car for polish.

Products used:

Optimum Polish

Liquid Glass applied by hand

3M Perfect-It Show Car Paste Wax applied by hand

The interior was shampooed with a mild citrus cleaner.

All chrome & wood grain were checked for streaks.

Lexol leather conditioner was used for the seats.

The car was completed with absolutely no over spray, zero swirl marks & all of the fine scratches that covered the entire car are 100% gone.

The sun was hiding behind the clouds so the pictures were the best that I could get.

No before pictures, I had no time for that, sorry.

How much does a detail like this cost?

About $200, a little more. Extra time & care were needed to polish the overspray off the chrome moldings & wheels which were done by hand. The paint also had some light overspray as well as the windows.

Check out my shop thread, my menue with prices is all there.

If only you were in the DC Area. Do you have any friends down here that do work any similar to yours.

I got a $700 Interior/Exterior Detail with Sealant from a Lexus dealer I used to work for and it looked better than when I bought it new.

About how far, how many hours are you from NYC? My shop is in queens & I do provide mobile service if the money is right =D Dammmm, you shelled out $700 bucks for a dealership detail?

Line up some cars & I'm there for $500 a pop lol!

^I paid a small fraction of that price ;) The sealant was Wolfgang or something I think it stayed on there for awhile. I am in desperate need of a serious detail though.

I like your worth ethic. I mean I would pay $250 if you happened to be in town and did the same kind of work as this benz.

I'd be willing to travel that far if it was worth my time. Where are you located though?

I'd have to include a separate fee for gas + tolls for both ways.

I'll send you a pm about this.

LOL I just sent him a pm. There would be no "group buy", you wouldn't get any discount for setting up a couple of cars are you crazy lol. Check out my mobile prices, they're very reasonable. Where the heck are you both located at?
