Brownspice
Soooo, I took my car (2006 2.5I) in last week for the 60000 mile service, they ended up replaceing my headgasket (luckily under warranty). Since I got the car back I notice the engine sounds louder when I accelerate. It sounds like a hole in my exhaust, not as loud though, but coming from the engine. It went away the day after I got the car back, but 4 days later, its back. I have no idea what could be causing this and before taking it back to the dealership, iI was hoping for some ideas on what it could be. Its a 2.5i automatic. No turbo I've also noticed my belts have been squeeling, I took it back for them to adjust, but they still squeel. So far, getting the hg replaced has been a real pain. byronchrisp05
I would think the exhaust leak would be the manifold where it bolts to the head, since thats where they had it off. On the belt, if it is making noise at idle, take a spray bottle of water and spray it on the belt. If the noise goes away you might need to replace the belts ( If they got coolant on the belts when the did the hg they could have junked them. If the noise dosent go away when you spray water on them, then one of the pulleys is making the noise and that could be from being to tight. When you took it back to get them adjusted did it change anything like when or how loud they are.
