Daedalus
Whats the point of going to a 7.5" wide wheel? You can mount 225s on a 7" wide wheel so whats the point of going to 7.5"? According to Xenonk's guide, 235s are not recommended for 7.5" wheels, so whats the point?
DMTaylor
I'd say it's because sometimes the wheels you want don't come in 7.0". I don't understand why 235 wouldn't be recommended for a 7.5" wheel. Dave
djsnoops
that .5 inch would fit 225s a little nicer than just 7'' im guessing. i dont see why you would mount 235s with 7.5? thats maybe a little too wide. i think 8'' or 8.5'' would be better for 235s
blklgt05
Whats the point of going to a 7.5" wide wheel? You can mount 225s on a 7" wide wheel so whats the point of going to 7.5"? According to Xenonk's guide, 235s are not recommended for 7.5" wheels, so whats the point? From reading his posts, the max we *should* run on a 7" wide rim is 215.9mm or 215, which is 1.5" over the width of rim. For performance, 1" over, or 203.2mm, or 205mm. So if 7" width, 8.5" tire width should be your max. Any thing more than that would result in flex on the tire sidewall. mod journal
Waxiboy
Most 225/40 are not recommended by the tire manufacturers on a 7" rim. If you go 225/45, then the tire specs would allow on a 7".

Blue GT
just because you "can" do something does not make it the best option, tire will be firmer mounted on the 7.5, better feel/ride IMO
whitetiger
IMO 235's on a 7.5 rim would not be so bad as long as you got a tire with a relativly stiff sidewall construction. 245's on a 7.5 rims is way too much. IMO 235 on a 7,5" rims would be like 225's on a 7" rim, and as we all know, many people put 225 tires on the stock 7" rims.

itsme
I'm running 225/35/19 on 7.5 and tires fit perfect. It also depend on who makes the tires. When I had falkens the tire looked like the where too narrow for the wheel. It looked like the where streaching. But,with the General the tread is wider and side wall is flat with the rim. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u156/itsmebryan/124755.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u156/itsmebryan/112332.jpg Racer X FMIC for '05-'09 LGTs, '08+ WRX and '10+ LGT,'14+ FXT, and '15+ WRX TMIC Racerxengineering.com
mightyS
I have 235/40/17 Yokohama Nevoa AD07 tires on 17 x 7.5 wheels. They fit fine and there is no squishyness. I've tested them on an autocross so I know they work well.

mightyS
Hey Whitetiger. Its great you can win your class with a LGT. I can't beat the Miatas that get placed into NXD with their race tires
whitetiger
well, ESP is not that competitve where I am, so its not that hard to win my class. After I bought race tires, it got even easier.
Daedalus
So it seems like putting 235 series tires on a 7.5" wide wheel is doable. It's just recommended that you get one with stiff sidewalls to help overcome some of the slop.
