Jack Stand Question

Recommended Posts

Hey guys - I'm gearing up to do some work on my 96 Legacy and was wondering where the best place to put my jack stands. I took a picture of where I have them now and it seems sturdy. Thanks

I use that spot and a number of others under there. Just make sure the you use a part of the frame that is strong and supported.

You'll be fine. Better safe then sorry.

Try not to use suspension components to support the weight.

Pinch weld on the rocker or the frame rail behind where you put the stand, as mentioned above.

BTW, at least your using them!

I usually use cinder blocks. I don't have jack stands.

I'm not stupid enough to get under my car with just the scissor jack holding it up though....

:eek:Seriously:eek:, cinder blocks are more dangerous than a jack. They are not made to hold weight at a specific pressure point, they will crack and fail.

:orly:

I'll use big blocks of wood then. Not on the end of the grain, of course :)

I have some big chunks lying around. Or maybe I should just get jacks

Cinder blocks are OK for stealing wheels, but not for working on the car.;)
