Coolant Change, Over or Under?

Recommended Posts

Yesterday i changed the coolant again. Getting the pop-rivets out of the bumper/trim was a major pain and I wondered if there's a better way to do this....

I removed the air intake which pops into the air filter box and found it was easy to reach the drain plug from the top. You can't see anything and have to go by feel, but you can't see much from under the car either.

I replaced the plug from the top, and next time I'll be looking to remove it from above. The only hitch might be not getting enough torque on a stubby screwdriver to remove the plug. Maybe I'll be looking at a 3/8 or 1/4 drive socket with a phillips bit on it.

Anyone using this method aleady?

I didn't even remove the drain plug, just removed the top radiator hose

at radiator end and removed lower radiator hose at engine/thermostat

end - and also the thermostat housing (simple, bolts and and o-ring that

oughta be replaced).

This is detailed elsewhere is the forum and is the best way to really get all

the old coolant out.

ANd of course it'd be near impossible to do wo/ removal of lower cover. Sorry.
