Need Advice on OEM Strut Life/replacement

I have a 2005 GT with 53k miles on it. I did a ton of work on the car with TDC when they were around but I have demoded the car all but sways, DBA rotors ,hawk pads, and htech springs.

I got the springs probably around 20k miles. I have noticed in the last 3-6 months that the car is really slamming hard on any irregularity in the road. And potholes are teeth shattering. I know it was not like this in the past so I assume that my stock struts are going. The creak a tiny bit when going over speed bumps but other then that they are quiet.

I thought when struts went the car got really "floaty" though not teeth shattering stiff. Anyway my question is do you guys think they are in fact what is causing this and they are shot, and if so what is my best bet for replacements?

Looks like OEM's would cost $400 for all 4 struts (109 front 87 for the rear). I still have the OEM springs and could swap them back on but is there a cheaper or even better alternative for about the same $?

I don't expect to have this car for more then a year more (10k miles) so I was almost thinking I would just try to hold out on the ones on the car till 63k miles and sell it. But I might need new teeth by then.

Thoughts? and thanks in advance

i think an issue with any aftermarket springs + stock struts. eventually its gonna wear on the struts and the big bumps are gonna feel worse as you rack the miles. The best way to fix this is go coilovers, but in your case mblock..no point since u will be selling car. i was debating this myself just save for coilovers or just get h-techs until the struts wear out

I am actually at Subaru right now getting a 4 wheel align and 2 new tires. I bought new falken 912s 13months ago and had subaru mount them. I went to check the tires to rotate them a few weeks back and the rears had worn almost to being bald on the outside. I had an alignment done 12 months ago too so I have no idea what could have caused this.

I bought 2 new tires and figured when they aligned me last year there was too much toe in or something and it wore out 2 tires in less then 10k miles. I really hope having different springs (htechs) also caused this. I don't see how though since it is such a mild drop and they align the car while loaded so .......

I just don't get how the fronts were fine and have plenty of meat left and the rears are toast. I only drive highway at 70 mph and poof. I hope they find there is way too much toe in or something since that is all I can think of.

Ok well I am back from the dealer. Toe was out .78 on one wheel and .13 on the other for a total toe of .91 hahahaha. Don't know how that happened but that is absolutely the answer to my tire wear issue. They were able to get the .13 to -.02 and the .78 down to .13. So the total tow is now .11 which should be muuuch better. The car stops better, no road noise, and i don't know how this is possible but it is now taking the bumps a lot nicer on the road. They aren't nearly as harsh so I don't think its my struts.

Worth all $145 for the 2 tire balance and 4 wheel align!
