metsfan820
Is there ipod connectivity with the 2006 subaru legacy 2.5i stock radio? Can I just simply buy a certain wire and works like that? Sorry if this is a remake of threads.
ean611
I would suggest you start here: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12608 Also, the Interior/Audio section of the forum is a good place to look for more info.
metsfan820
To ean611, is the 05 legacy radio the same as the 06 radio. Also, maybe I'm just horrible at searching through forums but I couldn't find an answer to my question; Whether the 2006 Legacy 2.5i Sedan stock radio has ipod connectivity. I don't need anything fancy like steering controls. All I want is that my ipod's music can play through the car's speakers. It doesn't exactly have to play "through the radio" but through the speakers.

ean611
That is in the FAQ. You can get an 07/08 radio if you want that functionality built in.
peteyjr
In a nutshell there are 5 ways (or more)to get Ipod connectivity 1) Use an RF modulator (converts the signal to FM which your radio picks up). Not the best method for sound quality, didn't cut it for me 2) Get an 07/08 radio with Ipod connectivity already existing (more expensive route) As mentioned above. 3) Do a hack in like the Jazzy Aux in or the more difficult Soldering in mod (I did the latter with some issues ) Jazzy mod not too hard and probably the best bang/bet for the buck. 4) Convert the radio output to RCA managable output (and ipod connectivity) using a JL audio cleansweep, RF, alpine converter etc. Draw back is you will complicate things with external amps and its hard to really get a good sound . I went the cleansweep route, Ean611 did the Alpine version and both of us had limited success (then again we both have ultra high standards in audio sound) 5) Put an aftermarket HU in the stock cubby (either single or bouble din ) Its what i ended up doing and came out happy with it. The AVO single din radio bezel is nice and you won't have to relocate the clock/trip meter.

I have a 2006 Subaru Legacy 2.5i special. Yes, all it is is an FM transmitter, which means you tune your FM dial to whatever frequency the transmitter is on (hopefully a band that's not used locally to you). HOWEVER, that is a crazy price for one of those. $70? You can get these for $20 all day long online. What iPod do you have? Check out monoprice.com for a good quality fm transmitter for your ipod. lambed3
That is in the FAQ. You can get an 07/08 radio if you want that functionality built in. Has anyone done this? Is it simply buying a newer radio and installing it or is it more complicated? I have an 06 radio with no aux in but the radio has all of the temperature controls built it. I would love to upgrade to a radio with temp controls and auxx in but don't know how much it would cost or what I need to buy to make it happen. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
