Time for the summers?

Well it's been awfully warm here. We're finally getting temps in the 40s and even the 50s on occasion!! I feel like my winter tires are really going to take a beating in the warm weather though. I've been thinking it's a good time to put my stock summer wheels and tires back on. The two things holding me back are the frost heaves are still awful around here, and 17" with higher profile rubber rides better than 18" with a lower profile. It also gets down to the 30s at night still, but this never seemed to be a huge issue before on cold nights before winter. What do you guys think? Highs for the week are the upper 40s, which means we'll probably see some 50 degree weather. Lows for the week are high 20s to high 30s.

I don't plan on putting my summers on until I look at the forecast and see a full week of lows in the 40's. I work about 8-6 M-F so most of my driving happens when the temps are cooler rather than at the highs for the day. Everything I've seen says that summer tires aren't safe at temps below about 40-45 so I'd rather risk wearing the winter tires down a little bit more than running into a situation where I can't keep control of the car because my summer tires are frozen up. We usually get some kind of freak snow at the beginning of April too so I definitely don't want to be caught in something like that with my summer tires on. Looking at my forecast right now, they're saying we might be getting snow/rain mix around April 7th so I'll be leaving mine on for at least a couple more weeks.

This week looks like it'll be in the 50s-60s for us NY'ers. I'd say winter here is pretty much over. I'll be putting my summers on this week or next for sure.

Yea, yea, yea just keep rubbing it in that you're in NY right now. I live in Maine from sept-may.
