Anyone break the backside of headlight installing bulbs?

Well I've changed my bulbs at least 4-5 times with no issue in the past. Just attempted to change them again and i broke the backside of the headlight where the screw holds in the metal wire which applies pressure to the low beam bulb. I had the bulb in correctly..tab lined up with the hole and everything, yet the metal bracket just would not bend enough to grasp the little catch thingy. So took the bulb out and started over. Same thing...wouldn't meet. I guess I applied a little too much pressure and the screw and part of the plastic broke right off....bang clang clang there it goes down in the engine bay. YIPPIE! So right now electrical tape is holding my bulb in ever so slightly.

Anyone do the same as I?

Do I need an entire headlight assembly?

May try and use mighty putty to rig something up. Might work. I'll try and post pics this weekend.

Any info will help.

I just replaced my stock h7's with some osram rallyes but now the focus seems all out of whack. Like its not aligned or something. I didn't touch the projector casing but does anyone know if the bulb is to be put in there a certain way? Does it just sit in there with the metal paper clip thingy holding it? or does it have a special fit to it?

I did the same da#n thing. Like 3 weeks ago. You could just buy a stock projector housing. I ended up buying a whole headlight assembly off ebay. Of course the headlight was sh#%. But the projector was fine.

PM mr. luv. Im sure he has got some stock projectors.

I noticed when i broke mine, the metal was kinda to the side, so it would not go down to snap in. You have to make sure it is centered and freely moving when you go to snap it in. Sorry about your luck, same thing happened to me.

Hope this helps.

PS, on a good note, this may be a good time to do a headlight project, since you have to tear open the headlights again. Thats what prompted me to do angel eyes. Or maybe you could do a retro if you are into that.

Follow that link for the diy. For the 06/07 impreza's. Very similar. If not, sorry to hijack thread.

Bump for op.

Anyways................now that im done with the shameless picture whoring. I just had electrical tape as a temporary fix like you. But dont have it on there too long. Cause it's just not a good permanant fix. And I don't know if i would use any kind of putty. Cause you know our infamous H7 bulbs suck for lighting hours. So when you have to change it, it might be kind of a pain.

Im assuming your projector looks similar to this.

You can just buy the projector, or if you can find a headlight for cheap.

Anyways, hope this helps.
