BAC5.2
Where do you guys keep your garage door opener? I don't like the homelink mirror, and I'd rather not have it clipped to the visor. Anyone have any better ideas? I heard someone mention once a flash2pass opener. Does anyone here have personal experience with that? I have two garage doors, and I'd like to be able to open both (but not at the same time). That seems to be a limitation of the F2P system. Mr. Sinister
I went with the Homelink mirror after researching different options. It was one of the best purchases that I've ever made.
strykr
you could take out the circuit board and put it behind the dash http://www.bimmerdiy.com/diy/garageopener/
lilbrudder
wire it to your brights(or blinkers for 2 garages) so when you flash them they open. there is a how to here i think http://www.iwsti.com/forums/how-install/ or on NASICO site, i can't remember. pretty trick though, if i wasn't renting i'd have done it. firepyro515
i had mine taped for a while on the door covering the fuses ( was a perfect fit ) but i hit my knee a couple times. I had it in the door cubby, just so i could reach down and hit the button. That worked pretty well.
SVXWRX
i bought a Homelink transmitter off eBay for like $15 (i think it was from a Ford Explorer?) and mounted it by the map lights. i have no sunroof, so that may not be a good location for most people. http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/files/Landshark/32824.JPG

BAC5.2
I think I might make a modification to the high-beam option from iwsti and use the turn signals. I'll also have it powered by the car, so I don't run down a 9v battery every few weeks. NSFW
I think I might make a modification to the high-beam option from iwsti and use the turn signals. I'll also have it powered by the car, so I don't run down a 9v battery every few weeks. I think I might have changed the battery in my opener once in the 8 years I've had it. Or maybe not even that, as I'm not sure what kind of battery it uses. Turn signals / high beams is a really cool idea, I'm just a little worried that I'll drive away one night and open the door as I leave. I have mine stuck to the center console, behind the e-brake. Some cars have seat heater controls there, though.
BAC5.2
That's another concern I hadn't anticipated. The range on my remote isn't very good. I can only open the door from the bottom of the driveway, and I generally turn off the high beams when I get out of the car. I wonder what would happen pulling up to the door with the high beams on. You have to think, if wired to the high beams, the remote would be sending a signal continually if the high beams were on. I might have to think about the modification a little more. justyfid
Clip it to the door pocket. 2nd that...works perfectly for my oversized garage door opener. I keep it pushed all the way to the left and it still allows use of the door pocket.
DocHolladay23
NM found it: http://www.iwsti.com/forums/how-install/87654-diy-high-beam-activated-garage-door-opener.html [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] You want stickers? lilbrudder
let me know how the blinker thing works out, it's not on the walk through but should be doable, same concept.
BAC5.2
The only problem comes from having the blinker on when turning into the driveway. Any more than one click, and the opener reverses itself. slimjoe
2nd that...works perfectly for my oversized garage door opener. I keep it pushed all the way to the left and it still allows use of the door pocket. +3 I have it so the opener is in the pocket so there's no way I can knock it out of the car if I hit it on the way out. Since mine was a little small, it would rattle every now and then from the speaker or just from driving around. A few napkins behind the opener solved that and also prevents it from sliding around as I drive.
DocHolladay23
so I got the headlight flash mod wired up I'll let you know if it worked in a couple hrs. when I get home. And just in case anyone thinks that I did it because I'm too lazy to push a button, I did it because a) I'm bored at work so why not get paid to mod and b) because I think it's funny (mostly b) EDIT: worked like a charm can't wait to confuse my friends [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] You want stickers?
