LGT Outside Temp gauge is Slooooooow to respond

Canon20D

Recommended Posts

The other week, I noticed that the outside temp gauge was off, as it was

around 65 outside, but the gauge was reading only about 36. This was

only after a few minutes after I started the car, so I decided to see

how quickly it would jump. It took another 20 minutes to get up to the

50s and by the end of my 45 min trip it was finally reading the 60's it

was outside.

My question is, is this typical? Another LGT owner said his didn't take

this long, and I've never noticed this before, except when I first start

up and it shows the last temp outside (if that is what it shows when it

first starts) but its been since "Spring has sprung" and the temp swings

20 degrees between the night before and the day time that I've noticed

this "lag" in temp

I've watched it a few times now, and it'll be 20+ minutes to go up 15+

degrees..

That normal? What could I check??

My gauge is reading completely wrong. It will read 63 on a hot summer day that is way above 85 degrees. It was slightly slow before but now it won't read correctly at all. Its so bad that its messing up the way that the HVAC is working as well. I usually set the car to 70 and everything is great. Now the car thinks that it is in the low 60's and I have heat coming out on a hot day. So days the temp reading is correct, but most days its wrong. Anyone else see this problem? Any advise on how to fix it?

Unfortunately I installed the FMIC core on top of the temp sensor. It reads a good bit higher than the actual temperature once I've been driving for a little bit.

I'll fix it at some point, just been too busy/lazy to bother taking off the bumper again to fix it.
