$10k proposition?

$600 bucks in parts from PPG. It's easy, and you can do the swap in your driveway in a few hours MAX.

This is my old car. It had a PPG 1-4 Straight Cut Synchro transmission in it at the time. I was RWD for long enough to fully enjoy it.

It's pretty easy. you just weld the centre diff or something, and do some other stuff and you're sweet. It's a free mod for maybe the first 2 weeks.

You will EAT your rear diffs, you must get an R180 or better, otherwise they'll keep blowing up.

It's reasonably common idea in NZ to do, we have maybe 5 guy's in clubsub with RWD. Every single one has blown the rear diff's i think. You can chuck in Nissan R180's though which will take anything you chuck at them.

btw, most people don't buy subies for the AWD here (in NZ), it's all about the boxer and exhaust note. Don't take shit from the AWD elitists here (even though i am one of them :p)

Oh lol, silly me. By here i meant New Zealand, not LGT.com lol.

Here's some quotes from ClubSUB, sounds like RWD is pretty damn sh*t and pointless. i am certainly 100% in the AWD camp.

Apart from the Pro of being able to say "It's RWD" there really isn't any pro's. I tested a RWD wrx for a guy up north looking at buying one, and OMG it handled like crap. Would never go down that track

Doesn't handle as well as the suspension geometry is not suited to rwd only.

Blows diffs quickly.

Destroys CV's just as quickly.

im rwd drive and i cant complain, you just gotta adjust your driving style to suit rwd, i find mine just as quick and possibly better in a straight line.

Pros - easier to pick up hoes (if thats your thing) as you can say your a mad drif0r au.

Cons - sh*t breaks more easily, diffs, cvs, axles even. Ohh and of course the tyre bill. Then theres the handling - you wont want to drive in the wet anymore....

have any of you guys ever thought about turning your legacy into rear only?

Nope - in that case I could have purchased an old Volvo 240/740/940 instead...

Or if I wanted to be more modern - a BMW.

I kind of like the traction the AWD offers.

Reread my post on page 1

Well what if I wanted A 100 percent realible rwd with easier conversion back to awd? I would love to start drifting but Mommies 335 is auto and out of the quistion, and my car is awd.
