iNVAR
I'm using stock rotors that I purchased from 5-starperformance (fred beans!) and Hawk HPS all around. I replaced them around October 2008, and I did a bed in procedure (10 hard stops from 60 to 0, w/o coming to a complete stop, and then driving around a while for a cooldown). They brake very well, and feel great. However, I did notice some squeaking, which isn't horrible (I can deal with it) but thought I'd try to fix it today by rebedding in the pads. I figured maybe there was some uneven deposit on the rotors and maybe this would help. Anyways, I redid the procedure, drove around, let them cool down a bit (it helps that it's only 34F outside right now!) Then I looked at the rotors to see how they looked and they looked a bit strange to me. On my last car (which admittedly, was an old car and not a performance vehicle, and with medium hardness pads) the rotors were a smooth uniform silver-bluish hue. These look weird. There is brown deposited all around. Is that normal? I attached some pictures (sorry for the lousy quality... Cell phone camera)
Bolksey85
Looks fine to me. I wouldn't have any issues trusting them as long as they feel firm, don't chatter, and are quiet.
