All nav created equal?

All factory navigation units in the Legacy/Outback are identical, right? Wiring, features, everything?

Thanks!

Nope, here in OZ there are at least two variants that I know of:

1) Limited Edition Factory Nav: identified by the nav system and head unit being one integrated unit, map DVD driver underneath regular DVD/CD drive, bluetooth hands free, audio controls through nav screen, DVD movie playback, A/V line in, sub pre out

2) Optional Accessory Nav: Separate nav system underneath one of the front seats, as far as I know it doesn't have: bluetooth, audio controls, movie playback, sub pre out

someone correct me if my details of 2 are wrong.

But in the Legacy, are the nav's all the same?

They all LOOK the same.

we dont get the dvd nav in any sedans i know but not sure about tribeca.

Don't spew information if you're not sure it's correct (or without a "i'm not sure" disclaimer). We have NAV in some sedans, the Spec B has nav, and it's an option on the sedans with a 5EAT (automatic transmission) from 06+. NAV was not offered on the 5MT (manual transmission) cars.

I was indeed talking about the legacy/liberty in my post. The two types do look different too. Type 1 will have the nav dvd underneath the regular dvd/cd drive and so looks distinctly different.

However, depending on your region, availability of the two options may vary.

As I said, type 1 was a limited edition factory standard inclusion for a period of time here in OZ.

I have seen people in Europe post with type 1, not sure about in the US.

Maybe if you said where in the world you are someone could tell you what is available there?

Oh dang, I didn't even realize I didn't have my location under my name.

In the USA, I've only seen one type in the Legacy. Am I safe to assume that everything is identical across the model year span?
