DarkOblivion000
I have had my 08 Legacy 2.5i for only about 9 months, 15k miles on it. Today I was disconnecting the batteries to put some LED's in, and I noticed some corrosion on the terminals already... some black stuff on the negative terminal. Is this normal at this age of the car or battery? What is the best way to clean the battery terminals? What's the best stuff to prevent future corrosion? Molal24
Yeah this is normal in areas with humidity. Just use a barely damp wash cloth with water on it and scrub the battery clean and use a dry cloth to scrub the connectors on the car. Go to AutoZone and by some Anti-Corrision. It's with the batteries in a small envelope type thing. Put some of that onto the terminals and onto the connectors. You should be good to go from there. DarkOblivion000
Awesome! Thanks a lot Molal, I was worried that something with my HIDs or other stuff I had stuck in there was screwing with the battery lol.
Levish
CT isn't particularly high humidity, especially not the last few months. Its probably a malfunctioning cell in the battery I believe, not much you can do other than replace the battery if it comes back a short while after you clean the terminals. Molal24
Yeah he's had the car for 9 months though. The corrosion can occur fast. Who knows how long the car sat on the lot for in the sun baking. I highly doubt that the battery is shorted out...
