UPDATE: 16 APRIL 2009

Great news yall! I went to the first day of harvesting on Tuesday. I collected all the stem-cells I need to do the transplant in only 5 hours! (5.9 million/kg to be exact)

Some pics (Warning kinda gross):

Bloody wisdom tooth (They used a hammer to get it out) O-o

I met with the transplant team today and will begin Chemo-Therapy tomorrow (Fri 17 APRIL 2009) morning.

I'll spend 6 days doing the "BEAM" regimen of chemo and will receive the stem-cells on the 7th day (23 APRIL 2009) About a week after the transplant is when I'll get sick and all my hair will fall out (again) But in 3 weeks I'll be recovering.

Again, the donations and well-wishes are what keep me going so thanks for everything.

More details to follow... (Maybe I'll post up a vid of me puking) lol

SilverXT got an email copy of the "Subaru Owners Newsletter" for April from SOA and they had a blurb about Matt and the cruise.

Subaru Owner Community Reaches Out

A few weeks ago, a post on the Legacy GT owners' website delivered a troubling message. It was from 33-year-old forum member Matt Baucom, sharing the unexpected news that he was battling Burkitts Lymphoma, a rare form of cancer.

The news quickly spread throughout the Legacy forum and other online communities, and members wanted to help. A driving meet was set up that would begin in Matt's hometown of Port Washington, WI, and wind through the scenic twisting roads of the Kettle Moraine forest.

It turned into one of the area's biggest Subaru owner meets and Matt was overwhelmed by the expressions of care and concern. "It was a day I will never forget and for which I will always be thankful," Matt said. "I cannot say enough about the uplifting spirit of the Subaru community. I will be a fan, friend, enthusiast and owner for life.

A little more from Eevil1 of Nasioc. A nice little update on Matt's status.

I sent Matt a personal email with a link to the vid ( Since I did actually make this for him I figured he should be the first to see the vid ) he said he was recovering from chemo for the past 6 days, and would update us when he can. He sounded upbeat and strong, so lets keep up with sending him positive vibes!! To be honest with you guys he probably wouldnt mind hearing from some of you other forum members as well... Its gotta suck laying in bed all day so cmon guys take five min and send him some encouragement! Rock n' roll!!

If you would like to email Matt some encouragement you can use his paypal email address which is posted on the first post of this thread.

Updates

Dan,

Thanks for checking up on me. I wish I could give you a more detailed update but I am recovering right now. The stem-cell transplant was done successfully about 32 days ago, so that's the good news. Recovery has been slow and painful. I hope to get online and update the legacy forums this weekend.

I hope you are doing great. It's good to hear from you.

Take care,

Matt

Hiya folks! I copy/pasted this from the NASIOC Thread. Sorry, I'm lazy. But I love the Leggy folks better I promise!

Hey Yall!

Just thought I'd stop in to give a quick update:

I have been home (Thank God!) for about 2 weeks now recovering. The stem-cell transplant was a bitch but i got through it. I'm still very weak (nothin new? lol) but working out everyday now. The Transplant was 43 days ago and so-far so-good. The last CAT Scans show NO Cancer!!

I just wanted to say "Thank You" again for everything. The donations, the Cruise, the videos and the sick jokes were all fantastic and uplifting. I cannot say thanks enough to all of yall. I hope to be well enough to make it out to more meets/cruises soon.

For those of yall that are the praying type, please turn your prayers from survival to remission. For those of yall that wanted a video of me puking, i'm sorry, the last time i puked, it came up way too fast for me to grab the camera. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif

Seriously though, thanks again everyone.

Matt
