silbeej
So i was told by my dealer that my new legacy Se will have a special finish on it, which is actually bad to wax frequently. I can't believe this, and i'm waiting to talk to him more about it, but what do you all think, BS??
bnguyenbb6
BS. Wax will only protect the paint. Even cleaner waxes are not even very abrasive.
dv8ingvector
He could have meant the rock blocker type film? Wax can build up on the edges if not properly removed but I don't think it is "bad" for the finish?
silbeej
Well i know for a fact there is no rock guarding film, because they wouldn't give that to me for free. I can't think of a reason why it would be bad to wax a car.
dv8ingvector
Yeah; in that case I +1 on the BS without literature backing it up, as I have never herd of such a paint.
Danase
Did you pay extra for their "special" 5 year paint protection wax or something? From my experiences, most dealers don't have a clue what they are talking about.
Inigo Montoya
I have a warranty on my blinker fluid, I feel good about it.
Bdubs
It's probably the "rust protection" they put on your car, charged you for it, and you didn't even know it. I'd be very surprised if a dealer does this for free. The vendors pay them big bucks to push that stuff, they don't give anything away.
frostbite3360
BS Like Danase suggested, did they give u that paint protection program?

Brady
Ok, first off, the dealer doesn't know what he's talking about. What he MIGHT think he's telling you - The paint is too new to wax and you should wait until it's done curing before you apply product. There is SOME truth to this, but isn't going to be the case for a car from the factory. This will be true more for re-sprays where you truly have fresh paint. He might also be talking about the "paint protection" program some dealers use. All it is is a paint sealant. There is nothing wrong with applying a wax over a sealant. Detailers do it all the time to get a particular "look" by layering certain products. Does the Legacy still come in Satin White Pearl? Maybe he thinks it's a Satin finish paint? Gire
Muffler bearings are covered in the extended warranty too. Thank goodness! I love dealer BS stories. They can be so full of it too often.
Danase
Yeah, chances are you're dealer is just an idiot. I'd find a different dealer, or at least if any warranty work needs to be done. lol
