I no longe own the Mustang anymore (traded it in on the spec B), but teh red one in the backround is still mine. A 1991 Dodge Spirit R/T.

Nice - a Spirit R/T. Don't see them around anymore. Have any problems getting parts - with the DOHC?

Spirit RT, cool car. Any problems with the water jacket plugs in the head leaking coolant? I believe Lotus designed that cylinder head. Factory rated at 225hp, there was alot of potentol there. 0-60 in 5.8, a 14.9 sec 1320 was prettty damn good for 1991.

Those things were pretty damn impressive, I wish Dodge had continued to refine that turbo III motor. The VNT turbo IV sucked, as did turbo II.

Ooop's, other car a POS Saab 9/3 SE convertible, 2.0 HO, sport package, ecu chipped and more rattles that a canyon full of rattle snakes.

Pretty car with the top down though.

Not sure what that means but i was just messing with you, the mod motors are nice but expensive to mod and hard to get good hp out of unless forced induction is used.

Yes, that is true. You can definitely have a high 11 low 12 second car with bolt ons on a B headed Cobra. Just have to know what mods to do.

My other car is a Subie; so is my other car. Wait, which is the "other" car? They're both Subies. You know what they look like, since they're stock. Now, picture them clean!

The other vehicle is the motorcycle, that's my avatar.

I was just agreeing with you. I bought the Cobra in 01 with 30k on it and it was completely stock. I owned it until 07 with 37k on it and still completely stock. Everything I read about the mod motors said the connecting rods were the weak point and to make power you need to replace them and get a power adder of some sort to make any real increase.

I hated the seats, shifter, and brakes in that car with a passion. Cause it was a garage queen the seats were unsupportive and if you took a turn to quick with as much leather treatment on the seats that I put I'd slide all over the place. If you were driving it hard, upshifting sometimes I would hit in between gears. The power boost brakes just flat out sucked.

Knock on wood I don't have any cracks around the head freeze plugs (which iirc are aluminum). I did have to replace the headgasket and did a timing belt and serp belt while I was there. I still got a few things to do to it and then I am selling it.

I had a couple of T1's, and my old dd was a TIV Shadow (a 90 Shadow ES in fact). It was ok but I was tired of fixing the little stuff over time and didn't feel like rebuilding the front suspension. I had a small engine fire from a power steering leak happen which turned into my last straw with it.

As for the shifter, the first mod is always a short shifter on those cars.

I am sorry, but the 4.6L DOHC and SOHC do not have timing belts. Please elaborate on that?

Yes when using a forced induction application and running over 10 psi you need forged internals because the rods and pistons. The cranks are good and the 96-98 Teksid blocks are one of the strongest.

The third paragraph was about my Spirit R/T which has a 2.2L turbo engine in it. When I did the head gasket I also replaced the timing belt. I was aware that my 4.6L Dohc does have a timing chain which is actually one reason I never went about modding it. My car was also stock which is fairly rare considering a lot of guys do exhausts, cold air intakes, chips, etc. I did none of that and left it bone stock. I thought about a short throw shifter for it, but again never really got around to doing anything to it.

I'm wanting to get rid of my Spirit and may get back into Mustangs. I've been thinking about getting a fox body and going mod crazy (or buy one that has had a lot of them done). Just not sure if I am going to do that or maybe go old and get a 67-70 Mercury Cougar (you can still get one fairly cheap as compared to similiar year Mustangs). Not going to worry about the next one until the R/T is gone though.

Not to mention the comp ratio is high

Ahhh gotcha. You didn't clarify that in the post.

Actually it has 2 timing chains:rolleyes::lol:

The foxbody is light and the pushrod motor has a huge aftermarket. My uncle has a nice fox with a 347 stroker running 11's.

I have had that in my head for a while, too.

I have a list of cars in my head, and a hybrid of t-top Fox Mercury Capri and Fox Mustang, with a modular 5 liter motor, 6-speed, and Cobra IRS. Very little would be left stock. :D.

But that is one in a list of cars...

-Hybrid of a 944 Turbo, and 968 Porsche

-SW20 MR2, perhaps with an engine swap.

-pre-facelift NSX-T with widebody fenders and forced induction.

-Miata with Italia classic roadster re-body and full modifications to be a 90's tech 60's-look roadster sportscar, with an upgraded Mazdaspeed turbocharged engine, to 250+ hp.

-Austin Healey 100, modified with a Z4 //M drivetrain.

Or, a mid-engined kit car powered by a twin turbo EG33 H6, and a cool supercar-esque body, somewhere between 288GTO and McLaren F1, with a bit of R8 rolled in.

I have a 1990 Mazda B2200 Lowrider. It was my first vehicle and it was stock when I got it. It has a ton of body mods along with a chrome and gold plated 2 pump hydraulic system and real Dayton knock off wheels . The whole suspension is chrome, gold and powdercoated. The whole underbody has been stripped, and painted along with the frame. It's been sitting for a few years but one of these days she's going to get some attention.
