PeterJMC Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 I have a pulsing coming from my steering wheel while at a stand still. The power steering seems to be a little weak because the ability to easily turn the steering wheel seems to be reduced. It's not an off alignment or brake problem because this happens at a stand still. While the car is in motion the power steering seems to be working as normal and I don't feel any problems. The car also makes a weird squeal almost as if a pulley is about to die. - I'm going to check the power steering fluid tomorrow. It's a bit late and dark to check it tonight. - Over the past few months I've noticed some unusual dust around the alternator pulley. Looks almost as if it was dust coming off the belts from unusual wear. I inspected the belts a number of times before and they look OK. No cracks, tears, rips. So tomorrow I'll be checking power steering fluid and inspecting the belts again. If fluid checks out to be ok what should be my next step? Anyone have any other ideas?
litlmatt Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 what did you find out? i may have a similar problem bro.
PeterJMC Posted February 16, 2009 Author Posted February 16, 2009 I should have updated this a week ago. Turns out the front accessory belt went bad. I had about 70k miles on the origional accessory belts. Replaced the belts and it's as good as new! No more pulsing in the steering wheel.
