Tickets for what is the second question.

Fog lights always on?;)

Around here I see three vehicles that always seem to have their headlights and fog lights on in the daytime. Foresters, Outbacks, and Dodge Ram pickups.

Yep, I'm one of those people also. If my headlights are on, so are my fogs.

I really must say round here I get blasted on the highway buy the Outbacks, also people drive those things nutty. Never a WRX, always an Outback.

It's more a mommy car round here!.

Don't know. Alot of Hummers round here also never seen them get a ticket.

On the "Well-Behaved Vehicle List" are those vehicles whose drivers' moving violations are well below average. Violations involving these vehicle models appear to correlate positively with driver age, occupation, and/or lifestyle. For example, the Jaguar XJ and Buick Park Avenue are often driven by mature, experienced drivers who are more focused on comfort and driving experience than on personal expression. In addition, compared to those vehicles with numerous violations, there are more minivans, SUVs, and pickups with low violations. That finding is worthy of a tip-of-the-hat to soccer moms and hard-hat workers, who, day in and day out, are among the safest drivers on the road.

Table 2 -- vehicles with lowest percentage of violations

Make Model Body Style Violations*

Jaguar XJ Sedan 11%

Chevrolet Suburban SUV 16%

Chevrolet Tahoe SUV 21%

Chevrolet C/K-3500/2500 Pickup 28%

Buick Park Avenue Sedan 32%

Mazda 6 Sedan 34%

Buick Rainier SUV 37%

Oldsmobile Silhouette Minivan 37%

Buick Lucerne Sedan 40%

GMC Sierra C1500 Pickup 40%

But not Legacys? WRX's? Scions? BMW's?

Not half as annoying as Audi, Mercedes and Volvos that have the rear high-intensity lamp: dazzling on clear nights.

And even worse in rain!

I think it made the list simply because of the sheer massive amount of outbacks that are around VS regular legacys or impreza. Not to mention the AWD prob giver people the confidence to go faster then say camry or accord drivers which are missing from the list.

Hahaha I'm guilty of that much of the time but not lately since my driver's side fog lamp got popped out by that frozen hill I smacked into...

But hey the fog lights aren't (super) bright anyway so I see them as just a cosmetic upgrade lol...why not use them all the time (ok they'll kill my battery faster) but they make me feel cooler at least...

Two theories:

1. There are a LOT of Outbacks on the road.

2. They are driven most of the time by old ladies, at least around here, so maybe it's not speeding tickets but other traffic violations that help it to make the list.

And I also drive with my fogs on... because not only do I like how the fogs light up the immediate road surface that the headlights miss, but on the first-gen outback, the fogs are HUGE and just look plain cool when they're on, lol. Makes for an intimidating appearance. If anything, I usually get yelled at because people think I have my brights on. I don't and the headlights ARE aimed correctly, its just that they are pretty bright and the way the lens lights up looks as though the brights are on.

Lead footed Soccer Moms and people late for work! Thats why the Outbacks are always speeding!

Top 4 around here besides the Outbacks.

1.Honda Odyessy

2.Any Toyota MiniVan

3.Chrysler Mini-vans.

4.Any SUV full of kids.

Interesting. The first week I owned my Outback I got two speeding tickets - in a 2.5i. I hadn't had a ticket before that in four years - maybe there's some truth to this!

They are almost all foreign cars too. Either American cars can't go as fast, or they are shitty and nobody buys them... Or both combined....

I just figured the Outback drivers thought they were high and mighty due to their ride height :)

Still, that study needs more info.

I'd imagine in reality it would be civics or integras if only because there have to be a ton more of them on the road

Decided to count the speeding outbacks yester on my way to work and back from work.

Counted a total a 6 speeding Outbacks!. I was going the speed limit. So they were probably doing 80-85!.

Pretty funny got passed by more speeding Acura TL's then anything else though!.

LOL.

Funny, I always feel like cops take one look at my speeding grocery getter and then go pull over some red Camaro in the slow lane. In Massachusetts an Outback is practically invisible.

Last time I was in Mass I will admit there are a ton of Outbacks.

I did however saw alot of Volvo S60 R's and Merc SUV's!
