05Boost
Driving home from my gfs house last night all the way home no problems but then i get 30 secs from my house and cant stop comming down a hill that was covered in ice. Slid out and hit the curb parallel. Im fine was only going like 5mph. Cars all scratched and some dents from the wire that hangs down from the telephone pole. Then when i wake up i find out someone else crashed there and then a truck parked on the icy hill slid down and crash into his truck. Heres the pics. Be safe driving around everyone. Hope no one else has to deal with stupid ice problems. http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb20/mymax97/4.jpg http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb20/mymax97/5.jpg http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb20/mymax97/6.jpg The hill and what was up there this morning. http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb20/mymax97/1-1.jpg http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb20/mymax97/2-1.jpg http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb20/mymax97/photo-3.jpg http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb20/mymax97/3-1.jpg Be safe everyone! Sunra
Wow, that's a drag, and the road looks like an ice rink. Most important though, you're safe and will have a healthy Christmas! Hang in there :-)

f1anatic
Officically I feel your pain. Officically, no tires (except those with spikes) can do shit against ice. Lastly, why do you need a tow truck ?
05Boost
didnt want to drive with the front right wheel kicked out how it is. Compaired to the front left wheel. drcaveman
I hit black Ice in my 96 Impreza and took out the Welcome to RIT LED Sign $4000 and two months later I got the car back. Happened about 4 years ago. Its incredible how well built those little subies are, once it was fixed the car drove like new. What Sucks is winter was supposedly over so I had taken the studded snow tires off the day before. The photo of the accident scene was taken a few days after the accident. fwa2500
this happened to me on the 17th, nothing bad, but it was irritating: http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v1798/83/73/563736507/n563736507_2232312_6696.jpg http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v1798/83/73/563736507/n563736507_2232313_9576.jpg http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v1798/83/73/563736507/n563736507_2232308_7609.jpg http://photos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v1798/83/73/563736507/n563736507_2232309_9685.jpg http://photos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v1798/83/73/563736507/n563736507_2232310_1920.jpg the result of sliding on ice down our driveway and ending up in the flowerbed with our japanese maple. i was going really slow because i knew it was icey from when i left in the morning, but it had gotten worse and i slid. there is just enough of a slope that i picked up a little bit of speed and ended up in the flower bed. nothing is broken luckily, just some scuffs and green marks which mostly came off when i cleaned it. i managed to get back to the street on the grass and thats where i stayed until it melted, haha

Did you always park that on the end of the row @ the lot near the art buildings? If so I think I saw your car there EVERY DAY for like a year. I always commented on it to everyone else... she was quite the beauty. I myself managed to throw my old buick off of that same loop, but leaving. SLegacy99
I see why you might hate ice. I like it as I have never had a problem. I cant help but smile watching others stuggle to make it up a hill while I can zip right up.
Backlash
I see why you might hate ice. I like it as I have never had a problem. I cant help but smile watching others stuggle to make it up a hill while I can zip right up. *Knocks on wood* Same here really. What i REALLY hate... is the absolutely stupid people on the road every winter. Ice/Snow is not much of a bother to myself personally... but it seems it just strips the common sense from just about everyone else on the road. I just don't get it Its like, "gee, Snow! Lets go 40mph in a 30, Ride the bumper of the guy in front of me so i can't leave anytime to react. and slam on teh brakes when i get 15ft from the intersection. I'll never get in a wreck." Oh, and as to the first set of pictures... I would be so pissed if that were me. and that truck... ouch. and yeah, i wouldn't drive the car either with that tire bent like that. and Drcaveman, thats Murphy's Law for you. happened like that last year, 2 days after studded tires were required to be off... a snowstorm hit. Go figure.

What funny when I look back on the incident, I clearly remember the sign blinking Welcome to RIT just as I was side swiping it. Lots of people wiped on that loop in the winter, I must have pulled a few dozen cars out there. The Lower parking lot was sweet for doing donuts in the winter. Tsquared80
I hit a patch of ice a few years ago in my Eclipse going about 10-15. Hit the curb parallel and snapped the front right tire off like a twig. Had to get half-axle, radiator, and suspension fixed. Cost about $3k. 05Boost
got my estimate back $4400. Lower control arm, struts, front passanger door, sideskirts, 2 new rims and tires, fixing the bumpers, and spray matching the side.
0to300
That sounds about right. The front door should be skinned or at least have a used shell...A repair on that would be unusual and would be worth 10 hours labour or better.Hope it turns out for you.
