Andyjo
Nice, i like the blue! I just did this, and tapped into the seat-heater dimming circuit... ripped apart the module to figure out which wire to use... The wire i tapped (orange-silver) is the ground to the seat-heater LEDs (because the dimmer is on the ground, of course), and just grab the hot side from something that follows suit when you turn on/off with the headlights. http://legacygt.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=157&pictureid=804 Which turns out to be this pin: http://legacygt.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=157&pictureid=805 and this wire.... http://legacygt.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=157&pictureid=806 and it's done! http://legacygt.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=157&pictureid=803 And yes, it dim's with the dimmer No thunder stealing, just documenting when i did, so i remember

Thanks for posting so I don't have to figure this out myself Question - do you like the red LEDs ? i was thinking about going with blue ones . I am not sure about amount of light 4 LEDs will output as well - I think this may be a bit tooo much. Our Tribeca has 2 blue LEDs and that seems to be just right amount of night illumination - allows everytinhg to be seen in compartment yet does not bother driver on long night trips. Andyjo
They're not that bright... i was going to put in red and blue, and add in a switch to toggle them ;-) And.. i ran my hot line from somewhere that doesn't turn off w/ the lights... but yes, the orange/silver is ground, because the subaru dimmer runs on the ground, not the hot side. F-WDC Spec B
Does anyone know if the wires to tap when you ahve the SI drive and the small heated seat controls are the same color? I just dont feel like looking and testing.
jvcjbl
Does anyone know if the wires to tap when you ahve the SI drive and the small heated seat controls are the same color? I just dont feel like looking and testing. I found my dimming wire right at my SI Drive. DIdn't mess with the heated seat. I gave a description of the wire in my post... granted it was kind vague but you will under stand. There is the little release tab you have to press to remove the harness from the bottom of the SI Drive. Turn the harness around so the tab is facing away from you. The dimming wire is now the wire on the far left. Test it with a volt meter like I mentioned in my post. It is a very simple process.
liljay794
Me and my friend have a quick question. we're working on this project right now and we're stuck on the wiring part. We already have all of the LEDs long enough and into one combination each (positive and negative). Now where and what do we put in the positive and negative parts into? We need help lol
liljay794
And he doesn't have SI drive or seat heater controls.

liljay794
Stick, no seat heater or SI drive. Its an 08 2.5i. Its got the AUX input and the 12V cigarette lighter. Can we tap into the silver and yellow cig lighter?
Jerboa113
no seat heater? I thought that was standard. you should be able to tap the cig lighter light wires. liljay794
no seat heater? I thought that was standard. you should be able to tap the cig lighter light wires. Yup, thats what I did. Thanks man. Me and my friend both did our cars today, it looks sick. He did his on weird angles, I did 5. I'll post some pictures tomorrow..
FSRBIKER
no seat heater? I thought that was standard. you should be able to tap the cig lighter light wires. Seat heater switches are not standard but some other owners have found out that their seats have the heating elements installed from the factory(check under the seat for the wiring) and they were just missing the switches. A simple trip to the junk yard or even the dealer for the switches and now you have heated seats.
Andyjo
The only reason to go for the SI drive, or heated seats is to have the LED's dim on the dimmer switch, if you don't want that, just tack them straight into the cig. lighter circuit. Most of the radio shack LED's aren't bright enough to be distracting on 'high power' anyhow.. but i guess that depends on how sharp your eyes are I'm going to add 2 larger LEDs in the arm-rest cubby, from the front pointing back.. hopefully i can find stuff in there then
WhiteKnight
your right about the brightness on the radioshack brand LED's, just did my cup holders with my friend the other day and we hooked em' up to my cig lighter (thanks for the info Darkfox1 ...+1 for the quickness on responce)....im pretty siked about this seat heater thing, imma go check this out. WhiteKnight
^ moral of that thread...even if you dont hook up radio shack LED's to your dimmer switch, there not distracting-LY bright.
SubOperator
I'm going to add 2 larger LEDs in the arm-rest cubby, from the front pointing back.. hopefully i can find stuff in there then I did that last night - figured while I am there better do it. Tired of hunting for toll tokens in the dark Also, to add to your info about dimmer ground being on orange-silver wire on heated seats connector (this for cars without SI knob) - the hot (12V) switched is on purple-silver wire on the same connector. it's the rightmost wire on the same line where orange-silver wire is third from left. 2005 LGT Wagon Limited 6 MT RBP Stage 2 - 248K 2007 B9 Tribeca Limited DGM - 258K SOLD - 2005 OB Limited 5 MT Silver - 245K SOLD - 2010 OB 6 MT Silver - 205K

Jerboa113
huh.. thats a darn good idea. the cup holder thing I may not do but that sounds like a darn practical idea. nemo you should be able to add it pertty easy. The console takes all of 2 minutes to take out of the car. At least when you've done it as many times as I have.
