05 5EAT exhaust valves white coated

Recommended Posts

my car was pretty much stock until a few weeks ago. last month my friend and i installed a gutted up pipe and perrin equal length headers. when we dropped the stock exhaust manifolds we noticed that the valves were very white coated, assuming ash; sry no pics. just wondering if anyone else has noticed that or if there is something to be concerned about or not. like i said the car was stock, no tunes. running lean? but why if it was stock.

thx to any advice in advance.

btw, install went smooth, no leaks, upipe slid right down, power gains felt on launches, noise sounds good.

No worries :). I saw the same thing. You have to remember why our exhaust valves are sodium filled, they get HOT.

ah, great. thx all, yea, mine looked the same as RaGe's. so no worries and clears up a lot of my concerns. i was mainly wondering b/c we also did long tube headers in my friend's 97 mustang gt and they weren't as white. needless to say, GT vs. GT.

btw, downpipe and tune soon to follow....
