The_Bishop Posted December 8, 2009 Share Posted December 8, 2009 To my knowledge, Magnaflow makes a full CBE for the Legacy, but I'm not aware of them making an Axle-back that bolts directly to the stock Y-pipe as Perrin does. The Magnaflow CBE system's mufflers utilize slip-joint connections that are in a different location than stock. Considering this, I'm not sure that a Perrin/Magnaflow axle-back comparison could be made without some modification to the inlet piping of the Magnaflow system to have flanges added for bolting to the stock Y-pipe. I had the same setup with a 3" midpipe and it droned like crazy. I put the stock resonator on the 3" and it didnt drone but it was silent outside the car. I did 2.5" with no resonator and it was a hair too loud for me. My buddy had this brand new resonator that he just cut off a Mercedes (I am an audi guy myself) that he threw on for me. It sounds PERFECT. You can hear it inside but no loud droning. Sounds great outside. The video sounds a little raspy but hey... its just the mic inside my almost dead Macbook Pro. Blitz2 Posted December 10, 2009 Share Posted December 10, 2009 (edited) $5 exhaust mod. I just cut the mufflers out, welded in straight and welded the stock tips back in place so it looks stock. It has a nice cackle to it now and again. with the rear seats up you only hear a nice engine note. with the seats down it has a minimal drone, nothing unbearable. It stays pretty quiet until you get on boost, then it has a nice scream to it (according to my roommate as I drove past him). tjbev21 Posted May 7, 2010 Share Posted May 7, 2010 (edited) just put on my magnaflow cbe, ERZ catted dp and STI uppipe and it is beautiful i must say, perfect tone.. i did run a open DP for a while (ERZ) and holy shit that it loud, nothing but obnoxious boxer rumble and turbo spool hahahaha it felt like the car had soild motor mounts it was shaking so much, running that for a day makes the magnaflow seem super quite lol AHHH!!!! That's the exact sound I want on my LGT 2.5.... What would I have to do to achieve that sound on a boxer 4? equal length headers?
