jsimonetti
I recently purchased http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=52636&d=1210556343 However after talking to a lot of people, I realized that the work that would go into making that bad boy fit on my car would cost a lot more than finding an intake that fits on my car right. I was wondering if anyone knew of a solution that I could find, so that I could get an intake on my 2.5i. It is an 09 legacy 2.5i special, and I would *prefer* SPT parts but I dont really mind going with another company. I figure if I can get the intake situation tackled, Ill try my hand at the exhaust. Let me know if you guys got anything for me. Thanks!
aigochamaloh
Most cold intakes I've seen that go on a 2.5 N/A come with a long ass pipe that replaces all that tubing under the hood, including the big box right on top of the engine. I'm assuming that's for turbo cars.
OhBe1
If it's for the turbo (I'm almost certain it is) - it won't fit without modification, and the sensor will not be measuring the actual airflow. You'll run lean, and that will be bad. 06LOB2.5i MT, JDMRSB, GYTTs, HPS, LGT Mufflers & Leather Wheel, SubiMomo Knob, Inalfa Moonroof, Clutch Switch Bypass, DeDRLd, DeChimed, & Straight Headrest. Pawlwawl06
Our stock intake is sufficient enough. Unless you just want noise, keep the stock system but replace the filter with a high-flow aftermarket filter.
jsimonetti
Well Im doing it for 2 reasons really 1) The noise 2) The 'bling' effect. And considering Ill probably put an exhaust on, I think it would be nice to have the whole air flow system done. I know that piece is for the turbo, I was just wondering if anyone had any links to ones that I could pick up and install without any cutting *note, if I need to cut, I will, but It would be preferable not to
ShrinerMonkey
If you just want noise... remove the intake silencer and cut/drill holes in your airbox. You can also just do the hogzaust mod for added noise in the exhaust. Total cost = $0.

Read up and have fun! You should also check out the N/A forum on NASIOC. There is a nice write-up on the issues with air intakes(I believe its a sticky by williaty). firepyro515
find an intake that fits a 2.5 impreza from 98-01. They have the best fit! for just a quick fix, i would just get a K&N filter. Moving the MAF or swapping the air box will throw a code (at least thats what the majority of people have said)
The Suby
I have thrown a code even though I used MAF relocater. I am going to do the 2.5 Impreza from 98-01 intake
apexjapan
I've got a prototype sitting at the top of my to-do pile. It's actually been designed for the 08 Impreza 2.5i, but I'm wagering that, like turbo models, the setup is exactly the same. I'll be doing some fitting tomorrow on a Legacy to see. smushybrain
I have the AVO panel filter and love it as well. I would be interested in an aftermarket intake pipe that went from the stock air box to the throttle body, though! *hint* *hint*
CCSubaru
Does putting a high-flow filter really make the sound better? If so how much do they cost?
Pawlwawl06
Does putting a high-flow filter really make the sound better? If so how much do they cost? It does add a nice sucking noise to the air induction when getting on the gas, but its not ricer loud or anything. If you just want noise, do a CAI or something to that effect. CCSubaru
well how much does just a filter cost approx?
BCushidō
K&N performance air flow for '08 Legacy, at autozone, is $48.99.

firepyro515
Yeah, mine was around $45, easy to install, just make sure that you clean it every couple months.
Madjik_Man
okay, dumb question here What does the K&N filter do to the 2.5i in terms of performance?
D_J
Slight improvement in acceleration...plus you can wash them every few months instead of having to buy another standard paper filter. I think the AVO is better quality than K & N for about the same price.
