Whoa91 Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I just replaced my car battery with one I just picked up for my 2005 legacy gt. The stock battery seemed to be getting a little low, so i purchased a new Titanium Battery for my car at Advanced auto parts. (Says for 2005 legacy gt) Anyways I installed it, Pretty basic , and Now the car Cranks but will not start. I Even put the stock back in and it is doing the same thing, will not start, Any Ideas ??? thanks
ehsnils Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 How long did you disconnect the battery for? If it was a short time you may have an ECU that has gone into a weird state. Try to disconnect it for a longer time, I think it's like 20 minutes or so. Or even better - overnight. That should clear the ECU. Just be aware that the car may be a bit cranky to begin with after an ECU reset, since it has forgotten all the accumulated data. If that won't help you may need a code reader to try to figure out if there is a fault code. Another thing is to make sure that you didn't accidentally miss to reconnect any cable at the battery connector or that no other connector did separate. Also check the fuse boxes for blown fuses.
Whoa91 Posted December 3, 2008 Author Posted December 3, 2008 thanks for the reply, I tightend everything down extremely tight, and it started, I was shocked that even though there was very little play in the battery holder that it wouldn't start. Well its working now, Thanks .
jarrod Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 anytime you reset the ecu it won't immediately start..maybe you weren't giving it enough time?
