collegemt
Can't wait to hear your impressions after the tune Adam... Please keep us updated! Compared to the stock TD04, the VF52 is night and day difference. I really want to just drive it hard, but I won't until the tune is dialed in. spyguy
what are your supporting mods? TMIC?
collegemt
I only went for a 5 minute test drive, so I am no sure what it is like from 2k-3k. It definetly isn't as responisive down there as the TD04, but I would say it is pretty comparible to the vf40.
collegemt
what are your supporting mods? TMIC? Catless downpipe, SPT CBE, ultimate racing intake. Everything else is stock including the TMIC.
HansGT
Catless downpipe, SPT CBE, ultimate racing intake. Everything else is stock including the TMIC. Time for some JB weld on the IC.
camber
FWIW, from the dynos that I've seen, a typical stage 2 VF-52 setup makes more WHP and WTQ from 2000 rpm and above, then a stock mapped TD04 '08 WRX. Can't comment on transient response.

Can't comment on transient response. That may be true, it just seems that the TD04 was ready to go straight from Idle, I mean no turbo lag at all. It was real jerky. However, the Td04 would run out of breath at 5k, while the VF52 still is pulling strong.

camber
Well.... Get the VF-52 fully tuned up and then compare. Although, a bit like comparing apples to oranges(stock tune versus modded).
collegemt
Well, previously my 08 wrx witht he stock turbo had the same mods. Only thing I changed was the turbo.
camber
Understood, but was referring to the actually tune more then anything.
sashadg1
Well what happened to the Tune??? I was thinking about going with the Dead bolt 18G now this has my attention.
GTTuner
The exhaust compressor wheel in noticibly larger, intake wheel looks the same size. Difference in the housing? My VF40-18g has a larger intake side wheel.

sashadg1
So I take it this is a direct bolt on Turbo? Is it from the WRX or STI, who figured this out?
collegemt
It is from the 09 WRX, which has the same intercooler setup as the legacy.
