laststanding Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 My car is about 3 months old with 1700 miles. I already have appointment setup next tuesday. But i wanted to share and gain some insight before i go upto the dealers. You know how dirty it can be dealing with dealer maintenance. Since yesterday, i noticed my All wheel drive OFF sign was not seen on dashboard, when i noticed its button the All wheel drive was turned on. I assumed it was me accidentally left it on. So i turned it off. When i started my car back after few hours, same thing again. Its been like that past 24 hours. Anyone knows whats going on here??? If so, please shed some light.
TPLGT Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 You're kidding, correct? Rehab is for quitters.

Brady Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 No no no ... I've got $20 that says it's actually the Stability Control Off indicator that he thinks is the AWD light.

snow05gtRI Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 there is a fuse you can remove to turn off AWD I believe, but I think it's the stability control light as someone suggested above.... is it a car with some curvy lines behind it and a slash through it? that's the stability thing...
laststanding Posted October 24, 2008 Author Posted October 24, 2008 "is it a car with some curvy lines behind it and a slash through it? that's the stability thing..." is that what that is??? thats the thing that has turned on automatically instead of staying off. What is its function,?????

snow05gtRI Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 subaru has an electronic traction/stability control system...automatically helps the car when wheels are slipping by braking on some wheels and applying certain torques to some to get the car stable or moving when it detects a slip. i don't recall the name of it...my car (an 05) doesnt have it. if the light is on then the traction control is off. you probably want it on so push the button to turn the light off. dunno why it would come on automatically after you shut off the car and turn it back on again unless someone else drives it and likes to drive with it off. i think theres a section on it in the car manual that probably has a better description

Two days ago, my tire air pressure sign came on. I still haven't put some air to level the requirement. Could this have caused this?
Guest LGT-NY Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 The tire pressure indicator is from the cold weather.
