Ummm.... WTF are you talking about?!?!?!

I live in The Black Hills and on the Gulf Coast of South Texas. A strong wind from the front quarters will suddenly move the car violently to the left or right. Wider tires have made it less often but more violent. The wind litteraly blew the car off course on I 90 so that it went off road no correction/corrective action was possible. I do not want to repeat that slegh ride again

I figured he was from the "windy city" hence his complaints about wind. I was then gonna make a quip about it's the windy city cause of all the blowhard politicians and not because of actual wind.

old tires mucho tread last winter.

I have considered negitive camber.

I have extensive experience with 02 series BMWs track club cars and muscle cars.

my 03 out back never did this!

throw a couple 45lbs plates in the front end?
258k miles - Stock engine/minor suspension upgrades/original shocks/rear struts replaced at 222k/4 passenger side wheel bearings/3 clutches/1 radiator/3 turbos

Check alignment and your front lower control arm bushings.

This is weird, I remember reading similar complains here couple years back, I guess some cars are possessed. Possessed and crazy people hate wind, maybe it's the same with cars...

I find crosswind stability at normal highway speeds in my 2008 LGT appalling. I'm still on my factory 215/45/17"s, though I don't see how modern radial tires are going to make much of a difference at anything below 120mph. I'd like to see drag coefficient numbers for the Legacy. I have a gut feeling they aren't too great, given the way my manual LGT sheds speed. It's either poor aerodynamics or truly awful roll resistance for a modern vehicle [and Subaru really needs to do something about AWD parasitic drag in this day of high fuel prices].

Cheers, Albatross.

This is weird. I dumped RE92 within few weeks so I dunno, but I never had issues with stability well in triple digits.

Actually I have two of these cars (none with RE92) never any problem like that and I drove cross country 3 times in various conditions in both of them.

Must be RE92 then

Yea, when its real windy out my car drifts around a bit on the highway also. I consider it pretty normal, most cars will if its really that windy out.

My mom has a Dodge Sprinter van with her business. The first time i drove it, i just knew that thing would be all over the road if the slightest wind hit me... nope. the old Conversion van i had for camping was way worse.

I am very impressed with those things. tall as hell, yet a pretty low center of gravity. handle pretty good, for a big ass van anyway. just needs more power, hers is the non turbo diesel. Not sure what van you drive there, but if you ever get a chance to try a sprinter van, you will be surprised with it. (now watch, you DO drive one and have a different story lol)

when my van dies... which is hopefully soon, I'll get a sprinter.

The sprinters do kick lots of ass. Especially compared to the standard ford van I have now.

I t does not wander in moderate wind it is ok. a gust of wind at 75 on dry pavement and you have to catch it with aquick movenet of the stearing wheel. On ice/snow she is gone and you hold on for the ride

she has 30,00 miles

new tires are Rikens which give better grip but....

my LGT felt the same way in crosswinds on the highway, much more susceptible to wandering left or right than my old Pontiac grand prix. Dunno why since they both weigh practically the same .. but anyway, after I put on coilovers and replaced my LCA bushings, I stopped noticing this behavior completely.

:whore: Exactly!!! I noticed the same thing! I think the LCA bushings are the primary cause of the LGT's "wandering wheel syndrome".

Drive a International DT466 13ft high moving van...now THAT's some scary ish in the wind. Nothing like driving over a high bridge, looking down at the water, with a 30 mph crosswind!
