kenchan Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 yah, just front to back for me too. too lazy to do the cross.
Regal05LGT Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 I cross rotate, just to insure even wear.... It is up to you though, as long as you are doin it you'll be alright
jerseyglock Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Front and back, 5 tires rotation (only if you have full size spare).
rurouni_x Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Fronts go straight back, Backs cross every 5k.
RustyShackleford Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Fronts go straight back, Backs cross every 5k. WHOA ! Hold the phone. You MUST use the front<->back on SAME side method if you have "directional" tires, which many of us do. I think directionals may have an arrow on them - if not, look 'em up at tirerack.com to be sure.

Max Capacity Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 True, but the stock tires are not directional, so it is ok So there AC/DC, they go either way, not that there's anything wrong with that... 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. addison Posted September 25, 2008 Author Posted September 25, 2008 i just remembered my stockers are asymetrical :-D True, but the stock tires are not directional, so it is ok
JoeFromPA Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Remember to torque your lug nuts to ~85 lb/ft. If you don't have a 1/2 torque wrench, you are in terrible trouble! Joe
blackfang Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Remember to torque your lug nuts to ~85 lb/ft. If you don't have a 1/2 torque wrench, you are in terrible trouble! Joe Great advice. I have seen enough people not torque them and overtighten the lugnuts to where the rotors warp because of it. blackfang Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Not sure I follow. They had the lugnuts over 110 ft lbs of torque which is way too much. JoeFromPA Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Yeah, alot come from the factory ridiculously over-torqued.....I blame the schools. Kinda like subaru rear diff fill plugs Joe
Diggs753 Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 They had the lugnuts over 110 ft lbs of torque which is way too much I'm sure that's possible but who the hell ever checks stuff like that?Maybe NASA?It might be over-torquing but after 37,000 and no runout I'm happy. while your talking ever see a set of tires from the factory, that are mounted correctly? The seam indicator or dot,and the valve stem?
blackfang Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 I'm sure that's possible but who the hell ever checks stuff like that?Maybe NASA?It might be over-torquing but after 37,000 and no runout I'm happy. while your talking ever see a set of tires from the factory, that are mounted correctly? The seam indicator or dot,and the valve stem? Every time you tighten lug nuts, you should use the proper torque stick. We check it when the vehicle comes in with a front end vibration or vibration when braking and the rotors are out of spec and then we find out they have all their tire rotations done at jiffy lube. As for the tires, I haven't looked. When I see a few PDI's come in, I will check. Diggs753 Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Only time I ever use a TQ wrench is after a brake job.
blackfang Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Only time I ever use a TQ wrench is after a brake job. I use mine often, but that is mainly when i installed the exhaust on the mustang and we did the gears and suspension. Other than those, my lug nuts always get torqued on all cars.
