smack Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 For a few months now my car has been making this high pitched whining noise coming from my front end or front wheels, cant tell. The noise would get louder as the car speeds up and quieter as it slows down. The noise only happens every once in a while but can last for a few minutes to a few days. The whine does not happen when i rev the engine, only occurs while the car is in motion. I have a cold air intake, exhaust, and lightweight crank pulley added to my car. If anyone has any ideas please let me know, I have already had my wheels taken off and could not find anything wrong.
kirbwrx Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 im having a similar problem. can it already be that if my car only has 13k on it and is an 07?
StoplightAssassin Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 You guys should hear the bad wheel bearing on my dad's Corolla. It sounds like he's being abducted by a UFO.
naimouasta Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 is it a high pitched whirling whine? i've been to the dealership twice and they keep saying its the "high performance" tires. the tires are close to worn, but worn perfectly, no feathering. i have about 23k miles on the tires now so i'm ready for new tires but the noise began around 6k miles though. i am somewhat now convinced its the tires but still not really sure. its a high pitched whirling whine similar to tires noise from a tractor trailer or school bus at highway speeds but not as loud. i'm planning to get new tires put on my new 18" wheels. also planning to get lower springs/struts. i'm trying to get new tires, and if theres still noise take it immediatly back to the dealership. you guys think i can be denied warranty if it ends up being wheel bearings? wheels have correct offset. sorry not trying to hijack. just confused still to as what a bad wheel bearing sounds like. it be awesome if someone posts a video clip or somthing.
Regal05LGT Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 The wheel bearings are all covered in an extended warranty issued by SOA
naimouasta Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 ^^^ yea i know that but can they blame it on non-oem wheels (correct offset) and or lowered suspension then deny it?
Regal05LGT Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Perhaps....... Just put all the stock stuff back on before you go to the dealer so they don't know lol
