need to borrow stock IC...

Anyone in Denver have a stock IC I can borrow for a week or two?

I have my AVO TMIC off and I think I have a pretty good intake leak. The stock IC at the turbo outlet and the BOV connection has grooves that allow the rubber o-ring gasket to seal and seat properly, the AVO one just has a flat metal surface...

I think because of that it's not sealing properly and I thought about having a machine shop match the groove that the stock intercooler has for a much better seal, I need the stocker as a template so it comes out perfect...

I got paper gasket at Checker and cut one out, initially used liquid gasket, regardless of those two methods the seal was good. I've typically heard of the leaking occuring between the tb and intercooler hose because it doesn't sit right. How do you know there is a leak, not reaching peak boost I'm assuming?

I can hear the compressor whirl fairly loudly compared to the stock IC, and I often hear it a good bit while the mechanical boost gauge is still in vacuum.

I thought about using the liquid gasket stuff, as you know it’s sort of a pain to get the turbo side on there perfectly, and the stock bov doesn’t really have a nice flat surface either… Do you think the grooving is a bad idea? I’m not sold on it, just thought it might be the best way…

That’s why I need to borrow a stocker, my stocker is back on the car…

Sweet, where do you live? I can swing by and get it, or if you want to meet for lunch I'll buy lunch...

tommypenguin, you nailed it... after looking more tonight, the inner piece of the throttle body and intercooler hose had blown out and was causing a massive leak... I've never noticed how hard it is to get on right the half dozen or so times I've had the intercooler on and off... Now I really question if I ever had it totally snug in there, it had totally blown out tonight... I got the stocker in tonight all the way up to the line, tightened it down hard, went and beat on the car and it looks like it's blowing it's way out again... this concerns me...

IIRC AVO just came out with an upgraded hose between TB and IC, it was 60$ or something like that. You might want to check it out, is your hose torn at all?

Nice call, $65 for a silicon coupler seems painful, but I struggled with the stocker for awhile tonight so I just ordered it... I don't think it's torn, but I never noticed that the half inch or so on the inside can fold out before.. I can't imagine what a pain it will be to get the throttle body side off and on again, I hope it comes with instructions or fingers that twist in odd ways..
